i went for my hospital registration today and got a booklet that i've been reading all about the hospital and labour, etc. anyways, it's really got me thinking about my labour and a few concerns i have. just wondering what's worrying you guys, if anything.

i'm worried about how i will cope with the pain before i get the epidural

i'm worried about the epidural not working, or any problems that could come because of it

i'm worried about ending up needing a c section

i'm worried about tearing or needing to be cut

i'm worried about them having to use forceps

i'm worried about something going wrong in general

Im worried about basically everything to do with labour and the birth lol.

Mostly im worried about how im going to cope with the pain, I have no clue what to expect so thats what makes it scary. Im also worried about being cut or tearing and forceps as well.

Im worried about pooping.
Or panicing. I want to try and stay caaaaaaalm.

I'm worried about doing it completely pain relief-free. No gas and air or pethidine here, and I've decided to do without an epidural because it costs so much money. I wanted to get a TENS machine sent over but that hasn't worked out, so other than a few paracetamol while I'm at home I will be relying on my will to get me through it. And I'm not a very strong person. I expect I'll be begging for death long before I make it to the delivery room!

Let me just tell you, i was also super worried about all of that too...especially since i knew i'd have to be induced and was more likely to use an epidural and get a c-section.

My advice is to just have a positive outlook...labor (IMO) isn't really that bad. Labor doesn't have to be a horrible experience.

The thing about epidurals is that most of the time they are put in place well and work perfectly fine, mine did. Again, keep with the positive outlook. If the epidural is put in poorly they will likely try to fix it.

And think of it this way, if you absolutely do have to get a c-section it is because it is what is best for the safety of your baby.
I also had to get a small episiotomy and I didn't even feel it and recovery has been a breeze.

It's all about the positive outlook...you'll do great!

and about pooping during labor...I pooped during labor and I wasn't even pushing. I was fully dilated and the pressure during a contraction made me poop. I had no clue i pooped until my twit of a husband told me afterward.

think the only thing worrying me at the moment is acutally going into labour. like what im going to be like etc...i also really dont want my waters to break in any room in our house where we have a carpet or in my car lol. daft things really.

Im not worried about labour at all... weird yes I know. Everyone keeps saying to me 'you arent ? oh you should be' Im so excited about seeing my baby that any negatives just dont seem worth it, plus they would soon be forgotten i my opinion once I have my son. Maybe Im naive ? Although the thought of my OH seeing my pooh does gross me out ! really not keen on that haha

I know easier said then done, but try not to stress yourself out that only makes it worse xxx

Once you're in labor, you won't be worried. :D Just keep a positive outlook.

I'm worried that a complication will occur and I'll have to transfer into hospital... I really really don't want to go to the hospital. And I also worry about requiring a cesarean.

^^ wss
And also getting a tear and needing it stiched up , THAT scares me!
Not the birth itself LOL

I worry about coping with pain during the 45 minute drive to the birthing center.

I'm worried about what kind of pain it is. If it's the crampy kind of pain like before diarrhea or with food poisoning, I can't deal with it so well. The burning pain from crowning as well, I imagine.

Possibly a bigger concern than the pain for me, it's stupid but I'm REALLY worried I'll get panic attacks and/or nausea (huge phobia of nausea and vomiting) during labour cuz I know it'll just make things 100x worse.

Also scared of episiotomy, side effects from epi (i.e. nausea), tearing, and C-section. I can totally see myself freaking out while cut open and realizing the full implication right in the middle of it.

And I seem to be the type of person who drugs don't seem to have as much effect on, so I'm worried an epi might not work too well? (like, I'll wake in the middle of general anesthesia before I'm supposed to, I need about 6+ freeze in my mouth just to numb enough to fix a cavity, laughing gas just makes me more nervous, etc.)

Just keep the body/mind connection in mind everyone - its very powerful :hugs: if you worry it can actually delay/lengthen your labour. Its great to get all these worries out now. Take some time to write down what your worried about, what will happen if the worry comes true, and how you might deal with it. I did it a while ago - and every once and while i go back and read it. Just remember the pain is temporary and purposeful and that epidurals usually work, and everything goes smoothly, otherwise people wouldn't have them done! And at the end we will all have beautiful babies :hugs:

I am worried about the iv. Haha it has been one of the worst parts of my last three births. Also worried about back labor, and the epidural not working. Last two didn't work. Or going to fast to get one. Last baby was born 2 hours after induction started.

Once you're in labor, you won't be worried. :D Just keep a positive outlook.

this is exactly what I was going to put , just go in with an Open mind and come out with your baby. this time around I have No worries other then going into Labour alone like I did with my daughter ( for 5 hours ) before I told anyone. but this time I dont have that Choice as I will have to get my Daughter to her grandparents.

srrme is right once your in labour all your goin to be focused on is your baby and doing everything you possibly can to make sure your LO gets here safely with my first one i was only 16 and thought id be scared but when the time came and my baby was distressed and stuck i didnt bat an eyelid when they said they needed to do a csection straight away all your fears about the pain and being cut go out the window its all about the baby :) x

Basically, I'm worried about having exactly the same birth as last time (forceps delivery, needing an epidural, meconium in waters, no water birth like I really want, not handling the gas and air very well) Also, worried about needing a c-section :nope: xx

Things I'm most worried are :

1. Pushing
2. Getting the epidural (even though I really want it)
3. What if its to late to get an epidural
4. Tearing

xx xx xx

My biggest concern is heamorraging this time round. It really worries me. I have posted a thread about it.

i have a number of fears, similar to all the above, but my MAIN worry is vomiting. I am trying to keep a positive outlook, but vomiting will be the worst thing ever.
