What Bottles Do You Use?

For the moment I'm using the Playtex Drop Ins system. It's "convient" in the sense that I don't have to sterilize the bottles, as the liners are disposable and come pre-sterilized.

However, I'm finding it a pain to warm up the pre-made formula when she's hungry. You can't boil/microwave the liners, so I end up putting the pre-made formula in one of the medela bottles that came with my breastpump and heat it under hot water in the tap. It's time consuming and the environmentalist in me hates throwing out the plastic liners for each feed.

I've seen people talk of sterilizers and bottle warmers... which ones do you guys use? I see lots of good things about AVENT bottles, but is it worth the extra step to have to sterlize them every time you use them?

Sorry for all the questions today. OH and I are going to trek up to Babies R US tomorrow and I've got nearly $150 in gift cards, so I was considering changing the bottles if I can find a better system.

I use MAM bottles and i have a Tommy Tippee steriliser, both of which i love

I use the Avent ones, not the drop ins. It really isn't that bad to sterilize. I do it once a day in the evenings, and have enough bottles for 24 hours. Once you get a system down it's pretty quick and easy (well I think so at least). And after a few months when Claire starts taking less bottles it will be even easier! I only have to do five bottles a day now, when Hannah was born it was 8-9 Whatever you decide I would recommend getting 10 bottles total. You never know when you'll need that extra bottle and it's nice to have some on hand for "just in case" situations. We still have 10 bottles (even though Hannah doesn't use as many)

I AM ONE OF THE FEW THAT HAVE GOT ON REALLY WELL with tommee tippee ctn bottles. i use a non branded steam steriliser which i got for £5. as vickie does i sterilise once a day and make up enough bottles for the next day

Thanks!

I'm also curious, (as I'm totally inept when it comes to bottle feeding :dohh: ) how do you warm them up? It takes SO long to warm them under running hot water, and all my bottles say not to microwave or boil the bottles as it could cause hot spots, even after you swoosh the milk around in them.

I was warned within an inch of my life against microwaving the bottles by my diabetic councellor as well.

Aaaargh. So many different opinions!

www.breastflow.com she doesnt get windy on these as much as she did in the avent ones.

When I was FFing I didn't mind steralising. I had a microwave one and you just put it on for 5mins and it was done.

For warming them up,the easiest way is a bottle warmer. We have an avent one and its great. When they're older it will warm jars of food too. Or you can put the bottle in hot water.

I have a bottle warmer from Parent's Choice I think, was given to me by a relative in the States. We use it most of the time, however on days that I don't figure out she's ready for a bottle soon enough and she's screaming the house down the bottle goes in the microwave because it's much faster. I have a good idea of how long it takes to warm it up so I do half the time, take the bottle out and swirl it around (if that makes sense ) put it back in, let it go for the rest of the time it needs, swirl it around again and double check the temp on my wrist.

i use MAM's bottles with an avent steriliser, really like them and only do it all once a day and make enough (boiled water) for the next day and then just add formula.

i heat the up two ways - bottle warmer or place in boiled water in a plastic jug, always been fine :)

I use the playtex ventair system.

I have the playtex drop-ins system but I also bought glass bottles by Avent.. the glass ones are easier to sterilize I've been told.

It sounds silly lol but at work if someone needs a bottle warmed, we can't use the microwaves (they are really heavy duty- get too hot too fast, etc.) so we use the hot water from the coffee machine that we'd use to make tea? We put it in a cup and put the bottle inside of it. Warms up fairly quickly, rather than being run under water the water surrounds the bottle this way?

I use a bottle warmer but tbh i think it takes just as long as putting it in hot water in a jug!! Because im now starting to know when she wants a bottle i leave one out of the fridge to sit for a while and then i warm it up.

I use the Dr. Browns ones and I sterilize them each night in the Advent sterilizer. It won't h old 6, but it will hold 5 at a time. I usually do the bottles first and then use all the trays that come with it to do the million parts that come with Dr. Brown bottles.

I fill them with water at night and assemble them all so I just have to add the powder when ready. I usually microwave (I know you aren't supposed to warm it up in the microwave but I hardly warm it) the bottle for 15 seconds to warm it up a little bit and then add the powder and then when I shake it the water temp evens out.

Works for me :D

tommee tippee ctn work brill for me too!

We use the tommee tippee ctn bottles too.

We also sterilize and prepare bottles on a night ready for the next day.

Heating bottles in a jug of boiling water works for us although LO takes them normally at room temp.

I've never seen Tommy Tippy in Canadian stores. Not sure about Mams either.

I used to use the Playtex drop ins bottles, then I confused my poor little guy with using other bottles with normal nipples. So I then went to Playtex airvent...do not get as they leak from the bottom.

Since then, I've been using normal Gerber bottles and Nubs but find that they don't help with the gas/burp situation.

Going to try him on Avent as I bought one yesterday to try it out.

Dr. Browns I think are sold at Toys R Us

I use avent steriliser, avent bottle warmer which takes 2/3 mins very handy for the middle of the night but use Tommie tippie anti colic plus. love them

Gem x

lol, isnt it funny how we try so many bottles? By the time we figure out what works they are too old for bottles.
