On Monday morning my neighbor knocked and told me he could smell gas so i called the gas safety people who came out and shut off my boiler and gass because he said the boiler was misfiring and pushing gas out the flume at the front of the house.

I called my landlord who sent a plumber out and he said that the boiler needs replacing, landlord agreed to this and then on Tuesday changed her mind and then went on bloody holiday!!!

Her daughter is supposedly dealing with this but we have heard nothing all week and i have no contact number for the daughter. My landlord has turned her phone off and is away for 2 weeks :growlmad:

Its cold, the electric heaters we borrowed are costing us a fortune as is the immersion heater we are using for hot water.

Im getting pretty pissed off tbh and am considering calling a plumber myself and giving her the bill. The original plumber has refused to fix it because he said he doesnt think he can make it safe.

Shes usually a pretty good landlord but doesnt seem to have thought twice about leaving us without heating in Novemeber for what could be 2 weeks plus! :nope:

Can't believe some people.

Found this link..

Hope you get things sorted ASAP

Oh, that was nice of her :nope:

I have no idea what to suggest, other than call a plumber and bill her when she gets back like you suggested. But then what if she refuses to pay?! Replacing a boiler can cost a fortune.

Id give shelter a call and see what they say.........along with your local council housing dept - they can step in with private landlords as they have to give them licenses do they not?

I would be fuming- im not sure what you can do though. I would say maybe contact citizens advice and see if they can help but they will probably be closed for the weekend now.

That is completely out of order!! Not sure about the law concerning renting but halogen heaters are cheap and very economical (according to my mum). Think you can pick them up for about £15

Well she sounds lovely!

Hubby is gas engineer, he says legally you should be able to claim rent back.

Sucks though.
