What can I expect at 9 week scan?

Hello everyone: My first scan will be at 8 weeks 5 days. Will it be internal or external and will I be able to hear a heartbeat yet?

I had both an internal and external at nine weeks, and I could see a baby with arms and legs wiggling around with both. During other pregnancies, they only did an internal (transvaginal) ultrasound even at ten weeks.

With my son I had a scan at 8 weeks externally and it was very clear, saw HB etc.

It depends on the type of equipment, all my u/s this pregnancy even the 6 week one have been external and very clear but in my first pregnancy the equipment was older and even my 12 week scan they used internal. You will be able to see & hear a HB, the pics in my avatar are my twins at 7wks 6 days and they change a lot in the next week becoming a lot more baby like.

My avatar is my 9 week scan so it was pretty nice and clear for me, I got to hear the heartbeat too. I did an internal because I wasn't told I should have a full bladder (silly me, everyone thought I knew)
So she tried external, couldn't see anything and moved to internal.

awe....thanks... your picture made me tear up... pregnancy hormones!! Can't believe I'm going to see a little person and maybe hear a heartbeat too.

My last ultrasounds were really early so not much to see and then 2 were late, so also, not much to see because the baby was too big.

I had my 9 week scan today. I got weighed, and then had a transvag. It was a small, GE computer type machine so the picture was somewhat blurry, I also have a tilited uterus so its hard to get a good picture! But i saw the little flicker and blob moving around, I could make out the big head! Heartbeat was 180bpm!

I am getting a scan the week before Christmas. I should be 9 weeks/almost 10 weeks then. Plan to make copies and send them out with holiday cards. That is how I am breaking the news to family & friends.

Ihi I had a scan at 9+2 and it wasn't very clear. Just looked like a blob but I did have a training doctor. I had external scan. We did at one point get to see heartbeat and then saw it wriggling which was nice bit on my pic it just looks like a curvy blob haha. Can not wait for 12 week scan in few weeks. Should be recycler as I think my scan won't be till about 13 week. Good luck x x

Nope- not for another almost 2 weeks. Looking forward to it as my first scan last time round showed a gestational sac and that's it. And I never really saw much on my subsequent scans either

Scans can get addictive I've had two already and its torture waiting for my 3rd, in 2 and a half weeks (I refuse to say 3 haha)

They did an external for me at 7w3d, and it was pretty fuzzy. We could see an outline and the heartbeat though which was absolutely wonderful! I have another ultrasound for better dating purposes since I don't know when I got pregnant and have had irregular periods at 9w2d, and they told me it was going to be internal so it would be more clear and the images would be bigger that way, too. I imagine that it is just depending on your doctor and their equipment and whatnot.
