Our boy has turned 5 months and we feel we would like to start a mix of BLW and TW pretty soon. I was just wondering what we can expect when we do this? I've heard of nappy changes :haha: etc but what else can we expect?

Will he sleep better because he is fuller?
Or worse because his digestive system is working harder?

What changes did you notice with your baby when weaning? (Also trying to time the start of it, before our hol or after!)

The only changes we noticed were that she started sleeping less well and she has more frequent poos. I think the sleeping is partly just developmental (she's learning to crawl, also had a week or so of teething thrown in there), but she does seem more windy and I can hear her tummy gurgling while she sleeps so I imagine solids have at least something to do with it. My friends' babies have been the same.

And she was never very regular with her poos, but she eats mainly fruit and veg and pulses, so it's all pretty high fibre. I'm assuming that's why she poos more now. It's actually nice though that she isn't as constipated as she used to be! She's always been a very constipated baby since birth (on breastmilk and then didn't change on formula), but it never bothered her so we never worried about it. Lots of little bits come out in her nappies so obviously she's eating enough that it could make a difference, so makes sense.

And other than that, just the time it takes! Weaning is a lot of work in the sense that it takes up more of your time each day than you'd think. We do only BLW so she often eats what I'm eating, but it's just the getting everything ready, setting up the high chair, sitting and eating with her, and cleaning up and the time it takes to plan and cook more meals from scratch (no store-bough pizza anymore on nights when we are too tired to cook!). It's not terrible, but it is more time-consuming than I thought it would be. Not to mention it's a bit awkward still just going out around meal times. Yesterday I was visiting a friend and had to bring food with us for her lunch that wouldn't make too much of a mess of my friend's house. Just little things like that you have to think about. On the upside, I actually get to eat lunch every day now because I sit down and eat it with her! So that's much better.
