Hi,
Hoping for some ideas in here, long story short, Conceived Mr 2.5yrs on our first go, this time around, have been trying for 18 cycles with not a hint of a BFP. I've got Pcos, but do ovulate on my own however the cycles were really random and all over the place so I was given clomid to give me some predictability for timing :sex:. Today is CD1 after my 4th failed round of clomid... well, not failed I guess. The clomid IS working, I'm ovulating at the same time each month.. I'm just not pregnant. :(.

My hubby went down for a sperm test last week, so we're expecting those results in the next few days, I'd be surprised if they came back with anything wrong though as it's the same father, and he had a pregnancy with a partner before me. I'm booked in for a lap & dye surgery mid Oct to make sure my tubes are clear but after that, I'm not sure what the next step is?? My OB said that he'd only do 6 rounds of clomid and I'm entering into round 5, and I must admit, I've lost the hope and excitement I had about it at the beginning. :(

So can anyone give me an idea of what the next steps might be?

I had about 4 and half years of failed Clomid cycles even though they were making me ovulate. Depending on your husbands results and the results from the lap and dye they will probably suggest IUI. For us it didn't work out either so we had to do IVF with ICSI turns out for whatever reason his sperm just wouldn't penetrate my eggs even though his analysis were all relatively good! Hopefully the next cycle will work for you! I hope your situation has an easy fix! Best of Luck!

I would say the same thing. Next step would probably be IUI. I had four failed rounds of Clomid, not even ovulating. Now I am about to start my first cycle of Femara with IUI. I had this same question. I hope that you find what works for you.

I'm on my 4th round of Clomid too (in 2WW). I have a lap booked for 19th Sept. My FS said they don't tend to do IUI anymore as the pregnancy rates compared to IVF are quite low. And it's not cheap. I'm in Australia - are you too?

So I think if lap doesn't help or shows problems, I'll have to try IVF.

How were the results of the SA?

My FS told me 3 rounds of Clomid and then 3 rounds of IUI if no success move on to IVF. I'm having a lap and dye Oct 19 as an HSG showed possible bilateral blockage so we stopped after 2 rounds of Clomid before moving on, I'm in Ontario, Canada.

Here iui is $700 and IVF is $15000. Much cheaper to try a few iuis.

Yes Nectar, I'm in Australia, in Victoria, thats interesting what you say about the IUI vs IVF... our private health doesn't cover preg/assisted yet either, so if I add that on now, its still 12 months before it will cover it. I was hoping that if IUI weren't to much out of pocket after the medicare rebate that we could afford 1-2 shots of that .....

Hubby's results came back clear. no issues there. have just started round 5 of clomid, guess I can only wait and see how this goes, and then the surgery

That's great your DH's results were good! One less thing to worry about. Shame about your private health although I think it's mainly Medicare that covers IVF etc? Isn't private health just to go towards the hospital fees etc? Don't quote me though!

My FS said with IUI we'd be out of pocket about $1500-$2000 and we could get IVF for $3000-$3500. So her reasoning was it's not much more for a much better chance. Let's know how you go anyway!

I got pregnant with clomid twice, but it's only now after this latest bfp that I've realised that the LH surge doesn't mean to try to conceive around then. I've found that clomid sorted my regularity out, but it was 48-72 hrs after the surge that I can conceive. You have to play around with it a bit!

I had 6 rounds of clomid bfn then we added IUI+clomid for 3 more rounds bfn. My RE had me take femera this month so fx'd!! I'm in the U.S and an unmonitored IUI costs $350 vs IVF here is $15,000!! Eek I hope the IUIs work:/
