What did you use to bath newborn? E.g - Bath, bath support etc

I'm a little stuck for what to use. I've been told not to bother with a baby bath, for many reasons, and from what I have heard/researched I am going to agree and not bother.

I'm wonder which of these are better for when she is tiny? When she can sit, I will get one of those bath mats, but for now?

We had a baby bath which was used once and made a terrible mess, as well as going cold quickly. Then my mum showed me how to hold LO with one arm in the bath (put your hand under their shoulders and hold under the arm furthest from you - don't run the bath very deep and you can just rest them on the bottom of the bath while keeping them still with your hand). I wouldn't bother with supports or anything; you can't go far from baby anyway so you may as well hold them

I use the big bath and a blue version of the top picture. Wet babies are slippery, and I always get paranoid about dropping her lol.

I used a typical baby bath, but mine had a little hammock type thing in it for when she was a newborn. I loved it. It kept her snug and secure while I bathed her. Now we use the same bath, but we've taken the hammock out of it and she sits up on her own in it. We're thinking about switching to a bath ring seat that suctions to the bath tub. If I did it over again I'd probably opt for something like the 3rd pic you posted, I wanted one but by the time I thought about it LO was too big!

We have a baby bath, which means we can bath her together (tiny bathroom, we wouldn't both fit!). I got given a bath support, but she's still too little for it to support her properly

I honestly can't recommend the tippitoes bath enough. It's perfect for tiny slippery babies as its got the lil seat for support. My boy loves the big bath now and in sure it's cause he felt so secure in the bath wen little. He still fits in it now but he prefers the big bath. I'd say its definety worth the money even if you only use it for the first few months

We used a baby bath at first then because he didn't like water (as most newborns don't) we bathed with him until he was used to it then went back to the baby bath.

I have the top bath and the bottom one and I much prefer the top one. It fits in my sink when I don't want to make a huge production of bath time, and she did find in it when she was a newborn. Now I mostly just hold her myself in the bath. Which I much prefer as we get cuddles and skin to skin. Although there's been a few times that she's slipped. I've always caught her but baby's are super slippery lol

We used a washing up bowl And then when he got bigger, a big plastic storage box! We still use one of them now And they have the added bonus that they can be used for storage once the baby has outgrown them!

But now he just wants to stand up in it so it's not as much use now. But yeah, big plastic box all the way!

I've used the big tub with her since day one (or really week one since she didn't have a bath until her cord stump fell off). I just used my own body as a bath support. It can get to be a bit of a pain to bathe with the baby every time, so before she could roll and stuff, I would sometimes fill the tub less and lay her on the bottom of the tub instead of getting in with her. Showering is easier than bathing, but again, you have to get in with them which can be a pain. Babies really don't need frequent bathing, but I think I would have bathed her more if I had a baby tub as I would think it would be easier. A baby bathtub is far from necessary, however.

Edit: and when it comes to slippery babies, are you all talking about when you use soap? Or perhaps lotion that makes them slippery once they get wet? I don't find Violet to be all that slippery. I don't use soap and I don't use lotion. Early on, I used coconut oil for moisturizer, but that's it.

Nothing. Just fill the regular tub up and hold his head with one hand and let his body float. The other hand is free to wash him.

We have something similar to the 3rd picture posted, but it came as a set. I think for $20 it had the tiny baby portion, the bigger baby portion, and a step stool. We still use it occasionally, but generally we just use the regular tub now as he likes more room to play.

I don't know if we'll get anything next, but babies can be slippery and I tend to be clumsy. If anything I might get one of the blooming baby baths and then move straight to the bigger tub.

This is William as a newborn in his tub and then a pic of him in the bigger portion. Excuse the ickyness of the tub if there is any, desperately need to replace the bathroom but live with the in-laws.

We bathed him in the sink! I just bought a new basin and bathed him in that. I felt a lot more comfortable bathing him there, as he didn't slide about much and it didn't hurt my back because of the level of it. We did this for about 8 weeks and then we used a bath support in our own bath. It was from morrison's and only a tenner. It was fab.

At 5.5 months, I moved him in to a sitting bath seat in our bath.

I can confidently say that a baby bath was my most useless purchase.

Use baby bath tubs without any rough edges to suit your baby requirement. Else there are quite a few options available in the market too.

In the sink until they were too big.
Then one of those body shaped sponges (although you still have support the head) until they can sit up- then they sat on it.

Its lasted 5 years so far!
