What do/did your twins sleep in as newborns?

I want them by me at night for a while until I'm comfortable putting them in their own room. I like the Arm's Reach Original Cosleeper, but am debating spending that much if there's a better option. It does turn into a pack n play as well so I could it for a while and it's big enough to put them both in it for a good while.

Just curious as to what you all did/are doing and what you used that worked.

Mine never slept in my room, they slept in moses baskets in thier own room each with a sound and movement monitor on. Being prem, I was paranoid they'd stop breathing. Now they sleep in cots

i just set up one crib in my room and the other in their room. right now they sleep in the crib in my room together. Once they sleep more during then night i will move them into their room sharing a crib then move them into their own cribs eventually. My girl tends to sleep better if she is cuddled up to her brother so we will see how separating them goes. and then during the day they have the pack and play in the living room that they nap in.

Does their crib come up to a similar height to your bed or do you have to reach a ways to get them? I'm having a csection and want to breast feed so I want them to be in easy reach.

We have Snuggle Nests that we put in the bed between my husband and I. They also sleep a lot on the couch or their bouncer and swing when my husband and I take shifts sleeping. We just set up a crib in our bedroom and are setting one up in the guest room and are transitioning them to sleep in the cribs together (the guest room for when one of us sleeps and the babies are sleeping, but it's not quiet or dark enough in the room for them to get good rest).

i set up the crib so that i have to get up to get them but can still hear them breathing. I am very bad that if i have them where i don't have to get up and wake up a bit i will fall asleep with them before they are done feeding and then they are up an hour or two later :dohh: that first week was rough getting in and out of bed with the c section.

I am going to set up the pack and play right beside my bed. The pack and play itself comes up to my bed height and then the bassinet hangs down inside it like 6-10 inches so it won't be much of a reach to pick them up. Their room is all set up for them to sleep in during the day and stuff and we just have one crib set up for now (we are getting move into a bigger house when they are a few months old so thats when we will transition them to sleeping separately).

i know i sound like a broken record but look into twins and moms groups in your area. i have been given 2 arms reach cosleepers. there is so much stuf that gets used for such a short time that it makes sense to pass them around

We used these for the second set... I can't say enough good things about them. They sat up a bit so reflux was not a problem, they cradled them nice, and we strapped them in once they got a little bigger. Cheaper than pack'n'plays and could go upstairs and downstairs with us... Also travelled with them! So easy! If this link doesn't work, google "Fisher Price Newborn Rock & Sleeper".

PS - we didn't get the "deluxe" ones - just the basic ones, and we shopped around, I think we paid $50 USD each.

Love this idea! I hadn't even considered these, but they look like they'd work great. Do they come up very close to your bed? How long did your twins sleep in them?

Probably longer than they should have!!! We loved them so much. I think they were at least 6 months old before we fully stopped -- they worked great when the babies had a cold, kept the head elevated, and worked great when I travelled last January and brought the babies with me (so actually they were 7 months old). They were strapped in from an early age though. They would not have had the upper body strength to really pull themselves up or roll out, but who knows - I guess if a kid was strong and determined they could have gotten out.

And they came right up to the bed, if one of them needed a binky I still had to lean over to help but it was better than getting out of bed altogether. If I needed to get out of bed in the night I'd slowly push one of them away from me, then slowly pull her back in when I was back in bed.

We have a pack n play next to our bed And one in the living room. My twins got sick at week two and we put them I their own cribs with the humidifier in their room. It worked well and they have slept in their own cribs ever since at night. We have a double video monitor. During the day they are in the pack n play on boppy loungers, bouncers, swings, or my chest.

We have the Arms Reach Co-sleeper and it worked out wonderfully. Look online to see if you can find one used for a better price. We got ours for $30!

My girls slept in the Fisher Price rock and plays, too. We loved them, and they loved them!! They are very easy to move around the house and take up minimal space.

My boys slept in moses baskets beside the bed (one on each side of the bed). However, they also hadtheir own cots in their own bedroom that I tried to let them sleep in during the day so that they would get used to being in there and sleeping away from my side.
