Hey, i am a single mother to a 22 month old LB.
We live in a council house and i work part time.
My ex partner works full time at the same place i work but we do not talk and he hardly ever comes round to see our little one.
Since we split he has been paying me £100 a month in maintainance.
This means £25 a week which we are struggling with.
I have asked my ex for £150 a month to help out, but he said no as he doesnt believe i should be able to live 'comfortably' on his money.

I have spoken to CSA and they have calculated that with my ex's £300 a week wage my son is entitled to £50 a week meaning £200 a month!
What do i do? Struggle on or go through CSA to get the extra?

Do the CSA take money from it? would it be worth it?

Sorry i am rather clueless to this

If you really need the extra cash then yes, I suggest CSA but be warned, you could end up going from £100 a month to nothing if he gets his back up that you have gone down the CSA route (is he likely to just cut off the money alltogether from you?, is he capable of that?) Then you will have to wait a while to see the money go into your account (like months). If an FOB wants to play the game and stall, they can. Eventually CSA gets them (they take it out of their wages) so it can work out fine in the end.

It's a tough call. I am going through CSA at the moment and my ex doesn't have a permanent address so they have had problems contacting him.I may or may not get child support off him, but then he wasn't paying anything to begin with so I am no worse off. In your case, maybe just chat to CSA a bit more first?

He seems an ass if he doesn't want his own kid to live comfortably. I bet he lives comfortably, sheesh.

I don't think that's right. I'm entitled to £200 a month out of my ex's £1800?

CSA will take some, too.

15% of 1800 is £270 sweetie. Does he have Another child ,or your child overnight? X

do the csa actually make money from their service by keeping part of the funds??!!! i never knew that!! xx
