Isaac is 7.5 months and the last week naps are totally going to pot. They have never been great but today he slept 10 mins then was wide awake so after trying to get him back to sleep left him 1.5 hours then went for a walk. after an hour he fell asleep but woke after 10 mins and wouldnt go back to sleep and then this afternoon he slept 30 mins max. He usually sleeps in either my bed (co sleeper) or his pram/car and will nap for 2.5-3 hours spread accross 3 naps. i have tried him in his cot and he just plays until he gets bored then cries until i take him out. What do you usually do on days like this?

What is his usual wake time between naps? Maybe you need to stretch out his wake times and try him on 2 naps. He may be under tired. To answer your question, when my LO wakes early from naps I rock him back to sleep :) sorry you are having a tough day hon x

I agree with Stephanie, what's his routine like? His sleep needs may be changing. A naptime routine may help as well, to signal to him that it's time to sleep and give him an opportunity to wind down.

usually he goes down 2 hours after waking but this week he wont go down before 3 or he wakes up straight away. then its usually 2.5-3 hours between naps. should he be going longer at his age?

I've just switched to two naps and its working great. I do 2.5-2.75 first wake time, 3-3.5 second wake time and 3.5-4 hours for the last one. Some days he is more tired than others, I try to go off him. If he has longer than usual naps his next wake time is on the longer side but bed time is a bit later so it all evens out. I'm sure Noelle will have some great advice for you x

Stephanie gives good advice! I'd also suggest a naptime routine - something like feed, story and into crib. Dark room and loud white noise with a comfort object if he has one.

Good luck - give him at least a week to settle into the new routine. DS fought bed time for several days but now I am so happy with our routine. X

Thanks ladies just pitched the plan to my oh and he nodded along in all the right places. Lol.
