What do you dress your newborn in at night during the summer?

Hi all....just popping in from third tri. Baby number 2 was due yesterday so arrival is imminent!

My firstborn was a winter baby and when he was s newborn we started off just covering him at bedtime with a sheet and cellular blanket, tucking his arms down by his side. We quickly moved on to swaddling as he used to manage to wriggle his arms out from his side and wake himself up.

What do you guys do with your summer babies?! My first used to go to bed with a short sleeved vest and long sleeved sleepsuit. I'm worried about baby overheating though, so would I dress them the same for bed but with less blanket/sheet coverage. With my little boy, if it was colder at night we used to also put a blanket over him when he was swaddled.

Sorry for the daft question. Overheating has always been a worry of mine with babies!

Depends on the temperature of your room. I've been dressing DD in just a vest and a 1 tog sleeping bag.

Just a vest and a sleeping bag x

Just a vest for my little one, our bedroom has been 26 degrees or more for last few weeks though so depends on how hot your room gets.

Usually vest and pj bottoms. Sometimes vest and sleepsuit. I find it hard because our bedroom can become quite cool overnight and my little boy won't keep a blanket on and hates any kind of sleeping bag!

Usually a vest but sometimes just a nappy. Depends on whether the AC is running. Its exceptionally hot and humid here though.

Mine were summer babies (well Sophie was born at the very end of spring). They wore a nappy and the swaddle.

25 degrees plus he just has his nappy and swaddle (needs that to settle)

22ish plus he has short sleeved vest and swaddle

Below he has long sleeved vest and possibly a thicker blanket for the swaddle

Right now it's 4am, 21deg in here and he has a long sleeved vest and a thin blanket swaddling

Even on the hottest days our bedroom doesn't get uncomfortably hot, so I've been putting my baby to bed in a vest, sleepsuit and 0.5 tog sleeping bag. She seems comfortable enough! Once we hit the hotter nights I'll ditch the sleepsuit.
Mind you, my toddler sleeps at the back of the house, where it gets very hot, and she's going to bed in thick wooly socks! She won't sleep without them!

A couple of weeks ago when it was 29 degrees in our room he was just in a nappy, at 27 degrees he was in nappy and short sleeve vest, at 25 degrees he was in a short sleeve sleep suit/romper. The last week or so it's been between 22 and 24 degrees and he has been in either a vest and 0.5 tog sleeping bag or a sleep suit without a vest when he goes down about 8 but sometimes I've put a vest on him when I've fed him in the night and changed him. My baby is very sweaty though so it's easy to see if he's too hot he gets all pink and sweaty, I'd like to us a single layer of cellular blanket and vest some nights but no matter how tight I tuck it in he kicks and pulls till it comes free and he sucks it abd sometimes covers his face. Am too worried about him rolling holding it in his mouth and suffocating now to use a blanket.
