What do you feed your baby meat wise?

I give Elodie jars to make sure she gets meat as I'm petrified of her choking on it! I hate giving her jars, how boring must they be?! But I have no idea what to give her otherwise :/

What does everyone give their babies that has meat in? How big are the bits of meat that you give them? Minced meat is what I'm afraid of the most because it's pretty tough and chewy :/

Thank you x

My LO has all sorts. We're BLW so he gets it as we have it. He has chicken, mince, homemade sausages and burgers, meatballs.

He does very well with minced meat actually, just picks up handfuls and chews on it. He's got the hang of chewing quite well now. Chicken and other meats I give to him in big chunks so he can grab it in his fist and gnaw on the top of it.

It's easier to chew than it looks then lol? I'm so worried about meat and I don't know why :( perhaps I'll try Elodie with some today? Thank you!

We do BLW now too, started off with jars/pouches but he used to cry a lot I don't think he liked them. Have you tried something like a cottage pie but blend the mince? Or maybe start her on BLW? It's so much easier wish I'd done it all along! If your worried try starting with the organix snacks that melt...Douglas loves them! That's how we started, broccoli trees are another good one as they can suck the ends and start slowly to chew them xxx

We are doing blw and she has already tried steak, homemade meatballs, chicken and homemade sausages.

Mostly chicken and sausages tbh, I'm not sure about other meats :/ worried about the chewability too, especially as she likes to cram things in if she can't get a bite off :s

We do blw too, she has toast and banana and loads of other stuff! I'm just afraid about meat :( she loves the organix crisps and things haha! I just don't know what meat to give her :( xxx

How big are the chunks that you give her? I can't even eat steak because it's chewy, I'd have a panic attack if Elodie had that :haha:

Elodie's the same, she just shoves everything in :haha: what do you do to the chicken to give her? And sausages? Do you take the skin off?

I cut the chicken into kind of strips, sometimes I make it into clicking nuggets with batter then cut them in half :) yeah I peel the sausages but I'm not sure it's actually necessary, then cut them into little slices :) yesterday I did the sausages with pasta and a tiny bit of cheese (then OH said it looked nice so I made it again lol)

Oooh thank you :) I'll give them a go today lol! That does sound nice, perhaps I'll have some too :haha:

I don't feed my LO a lot of meat as we don't eat much but he gets chicken, mince, pork and sometimes beef in stew. I make sure the pieces are shredded. I often feed fish too - yesterday he had tuna steak with chilli and veg.

Chicken, pork ribs, mince beef, meatballs, ham, turkey, lamb

I either blitz a meal with the hand blender or just give it her to eat.

Alex likes mince beef in bolognese sauce, meatballs, tender pieces of beef slow cooked in a casserole and sausages. He is very fussy at the moment and won't tolerate chicken, think it's a texture thing although he did used to love it with gravy!

I give her teeny little bites of what im eating. we've just started weaning tho within the last 4-6 weeks xx

Hi my son has always ate anything and everything - roast chicken, leg of lamb, spaghetti bolognese using beef or turkey mince, squid, pork and lots of different fish. I just cut it to a manageable size for him to pick up and chew on.

This has made me realise I don't really give LO anything meat, especially since he's refused purées as I'm struggling with what to give him that he can manage.
I may give him some meat off the roast today and see how he copes!

Generally babies do quite well with meat. Steak for example sounds scary but my baby just sucks on it so it's really tender as falls apart, then he can chew and swallow it. If you make the meat tender you should have no problems  I know it's hard to get over the fear of choking but their gag reflex is far forward to protect them, and as long as you supervise all should be fine.

I used to give my LO strips of chicken. Even if they just gum on it and spit it out they're still getting nutrients from. She rarely wants to eat meat these days though, she's pretty much vegetarian!

I did BLW and right from the start she's chowed down on whatever I am preparing for the family! She's a bit of a carnivore!
