We found out on 10/18 that we're having another little girl!! Hubby is really picky with names - like really picky. But we finally agreed on a name.

Ayla Makenzie.
I'm not exactly in love with the spelling - I prefer Isla. But I do love the sound of the name

I actually really do like this spelling but I think you'll be forever correcting people pronouncing it like Kayla without the K (which is also a nice pronounciation but obviously not what you're going for!). That said, I recently read a thread on here about the Isla spelling and was shocked at how many people didn't know how to pronounce it that way, either... so might just be one of those names that you're always having to say/spell out. But it's a beautiful name!

That actually kind of concerns me - DH's ex girlfriend's name was Kayla and I don't want her name following me throughout the rest of my life. That is another reason why I don't favor the spelling :/

thank you!!

I think it's beautiful, but I did pronounce it the same as 'Kayla' until I saw you mention Isla.

I also would say that like Kayla minus the K, sorry. Isla is a lovely name though! I don't like the middle name at all, but I like the cadence of the syllables if that makes sense.

Im not really sure how Ayla is like Isla? to me they are completely different words and will be pronounced differently, is there a reason you cant use Isla. I really love the name Isla though, its beautiful

Love it but spelt Isla. I'd have also pronounced it like kayla.

Don't like the middle name sorry x

I grew up in Michigan (not in Hancock, though), and I would pronounce "Ayla" like Kayla without the "K." I think that a lot of other people there would pronounce her name the same way, as well. Is your husband against Isla for some reason?

I'm really not a fan of alternate spellings for names. I think that your name combination - being pronounced the way that you have in mind - is nice. I would, however, go with the spelling Isla Mackenzie.

They actually are from completely different origins and have different meanings - they are different names! Just pronounced the same. Ayla is Hebrew and Isla is Scottish.

You can actually pronounce Ayla as Isla as well - the "AY" can sound as "eye" and the only reason I can see it is because when Spanish people say "aye" sorry if you're not sure what I mean lol.

I do prefer the spelling Isla but DH is super picky on names, yes. He does not like Isla and thinks people will pronounce it as "is - la" which I think it's stupid because that's the way the name is normally spelled. I also prefer to spell Makenzie as Mackenzie but of course DH is super picky with that as well and doesn't like the "Mack".

We have decided to go with a different name though, thanks anyway ladies!

I like the name as well, but I also would have said Kayla without the K.

I understand he's picky, but he might be humbled when he sees what you have to go through in labour. ;)

I hope you both agree and love the new name you've picked! Congrats on your upcoming baby.

Unfortunately not lol!! He is a big cry baby with the names. Even with our first he had to have more of a say in it than I did  hopefully we can agree on a name. He's insanely hard to get along with at the moment so really feeling like there's no hope lol

Thank you though! :)

What name did you end up going with? Just out of curiosity! :)

We haven't picked a name as of yet ! Hubs is making it so hard!
