What do you think of this name?

We have a name decided upon if we have a girl (Eleanore), however when I told my mother of my choice for a boy (Barrett Drake) she exclaimed the utmost disgust!

DH originally chose Barrett however now he is saying it is "too different" and the child would be teased! I absolutely love it and I just have a feeling that it is a boy and his name should be "Barrett". I actually went to university with a guy named Barrett and I always told him how much I loved his name. So ladies, can you please give me your honest opinion?

FYI - it is pronounced "Bear-rit" and NOT "Ba-rette" like the hairpiece.

I like the name, I know someone called Barrett, although with a different spelling so it doesn't seem unusual to me.

No i think it's great!! When i was pregnant with by 3rd baby i was standing at the beach not thinking about anything and the name Sebastian just popped into my head. I liked it but it wasn't my favourite name in the world but i felt like as you said, it should be his name. We did name him Sebastian and have never regret it. I think sometimes it's like the baby names itself..you just know it's right, in the same way you can love a name but know it isn't right for your baby.
