I watched 2 births this week on TV - 2 very different births.

The first was a real birth filmed for a TV documentary. Before i had my LO I never really found these things interesting or emotional but I found it so emotional and I cried watching the baby being born. I also found it quite scarey to watch even although i've been through it myself and i kept asking my hubby did that happen to me. Does anyone else feel like this when they watch a birth now?

The second one I watched was Molly's birth on coronation street. It made me laugh so much - i think she was only in labour for about 2 hours with her first baby and she was so dramatic screaming with her first contraction. It really made me laugh about how unrealistic it was :haha:

Anyway this was abit of a random thread - just thought i'd share :haha:

I have always, all my life, cried when watching a birth on the TV, real or acting. Just after Daisy was born I got totally obsessed with watching things about births. One born every minute had just started and I was glued to it and was trawling the channels for programmes about babies and births. I felt like a bit of an expert .

Now, that obsession has worn off a bit but I do still find it interesting!

I feel cringey to begin with, ie when the heads coming out! Then when little babies out I get all emotional :D! As you do :p xx

i feel kind off cringey too , in an omg i remember the agony way, then i get all emotional and cry !

I think ' how the feck did I do that??????? ' lol

I feel kinda sad watching a vaginal birth because I had a c-section myself. :( I recently watched the video of my daughter being born and it upset and scared me. BUT of course at the same time it was beautiful and emotional... If that makes sense?

I used to watch the real births when I was pregnant and always had mixed feelings about them..I would cry when watching them and think "how beautiful is that" and then about half an hour later I would I cry to OH and say "I'm terrified I can't do that" LOL.

When I watch them now I still cry and then I think..I would LOVE to do that again :dohh:

EDIT: As for the soap births I will always be amazed at how the baby is born lovely & clean & always without a cord..And there's never any talk of "Ok let's deliver the placenta now then shall we"

I think ' how the feck did I do that??????? ' lol

Ha ha ha! Me to!!
Also makes me laugh when I watch acting births. Like when Rachel gives birth in friends. FAKE!!!

Does anyone else feel the need to push when they see a woman pushing during a birth? I think its just me that does that :haha:

NO not just you, i can feel myself holding my breath and clenching my bum too hahaha

This one makes me laugh so much. Her waters go and there is absolutely no sign of wetness anywhere!

I love how with fictional births after the first contraction they are in active labour with barely anytime to get to the hospital.

I sometimes watch the pregnancy/birth programmes on Discovery Home & Health (which I never ever did before Adam was born) and I always get emotional and usually cry. I usually feel admiration for the women who consented to having their births filmed because there's no way I'd have had cameras anywhere near me!

Dramatised births, on the other hand, I find hilarious now.

:haha::haha: I watched that episode of friends her labour was funny, after watching that I couldn't understand when I went into labour why I was having contractions when my water hadn't broken first. I loved it when she went into hospital convinced her baby was coming and the nurse said she was only 1 cm and ross said 'I'm more dilated than that' :haha: I went into hospital convinced the baby was about to fall out only to be told i was 1-2cm, i nearly smacked the midwife in the face :haha::haha:

if its real, OH cries. Every time.

i love watch real births on tv and i too find myself wanting to push! However tv births i just find funny, talking of births in friends... Pheobes(sp?) birth of the triplets... She made that look easy! Sweat abit and screwed her face up and out popped 3!:haha: xxx
