I was watching Emmerdale earlier and was very shocked to see an ad for Durex....surely 7pm is a bit early to be showing these ads?
Maybe I'm just being an old prude..lol...but I bet it led to a few kids asking 'mum...what are they for'
What is your opinion?
xxxx

I dunno, I remember at junior school when I was about 8 or 9 boys laughing about rubber jonnys. I dont know if they knew what they were or anything, but when I asked my dad he told me what they were and i think i just went 'oh right' and it went right over my head as it wasnt anything to with scented pencil erasers which i was collecting at the time:haha:

TBH I dont have a problem with the ads being on at this time. They advertise preggie sticks and tampons and kids will ask what these are too if they are interested. If they are young enough they probably wont care what it is and if they are old enough to know what it is then its probably a good thing they know about it

I've not got a problem with it tbh, I hope it encourages everyone of all ages to practice safe sex (obviously if they're not ttc and are of legal age blah blah blah) :flower:

I think it's great that they're being advertised at all tbh :)

well i was watching jeremy kyle yesterday and it was on in the ad break! i dont see a problem if this is wat it takes for yopungsters to use them and not get diseases im fine with it x

Don't see the problem really, it's just another advert. :)

Kids are going to find out about that kinda stuff at any age.

yeah i think kids need to know what they are anyway and if they are going to watch adverts they may as well teach them something x

It made me laugh, it was the old couple and the two policemen at the end.

If Joseph was old enough to ask me what they were for I have no idea how I'd explain though. But they have them on display in the shops at pushchair level so if he's going to ask it doesn't just have to be from TV.

I think it's a good idea they are showing that everyone of any age should use them but I agree they are probably going to get a few complaints about the time they are shown.

I saw it this morning and thought it was great. It made me laugh

When it first came on i did look at my watch and think it's a bit early for an advert like that cause when i was younger these kind of adverts were only on MTV after 10pm. But i do think it is a good idea as it may promote more discussion about safe sex between parents and children and it wont be such a delicate and secret subject.

I saw the Durex advert today during GMTV! Should not be shown until after the 9pm watershed. It was an advert in good taste considering the subject it was dealing with but still it could cause awkwardness or awkward questions. x

i think its good to advertise, but the advert makes me laugh so much! lol
