I know I know sorry to repeat a much used question! Lol

But what should I feed? I have decided to formula feed for a number of reasons.

Anyway I am looking for one that I can take ready cartons into hospital with me as I am not sure what they will have there, if any.

It also needs to be one readlily available in the smaller tesco stores, as allthough we do a big shop in the bigger tesco, better to know I can get it near by just incase.

I fed my son SMA but have read alot of people feeding aptimil? What is going to be better?

I'd ring your hospital or ask your MW at your next visit if she knows what formula the hospital use, most have a variety of a few to choose from?

Tbh, all formulas are pretty similar, especially aptimal and cow&gate as they are made by the same company?

I dont understand why there is so many, I understand them having the comfort milk and the hungry milk...but its so confusing when there is 4/5 diff brands, they all do the same thing?!

I do know however that a few ppl don't get on with SMA? Not sure why though!

We use Aptamil. It was recommended by people we know who already had children. Luckily, Esmé was fine on it straight away, but sometimes I think people have to chop and change.

Aptamil is always on sale at the little Tesco nearest us, and also Co-Ops sell it. x

I have used cow and gate with all 3 of mine and never had problem picking up cartons even abroad. But I think its everyones preference and also the babies as I know a few that have had to change as it makes them sick. Good luck, try what you think is best and if you feel once tried that your baby is not getting on with it maybe try something else. I have always found with mine that flexiblity is best as not all babies are the same so what one person does might not be good for someone else.

I used SMA with my first child and she was always constipated... we use Aptamil with Evie and she's never been constipated :D

SMA for us! the readymade stuff is legendary!

i started all of mine off on cow and gate because they sell it in the spar so if i ever run out i am able to get it near home

check with the hosp ours provides but i bought a cow and gate starter pack from toysrus for when i came home so i didnt have to worry about sterilising and making up feeds straight away

Ooh that starter pack sounds good what is in it??

this is the kind of bottles the hosp gives you (if your hosp does) but i found it fab to have at home so the first couple of days i could relax without worrying about bottles

i got mine in toys r us, sma do them as well

£15 for 12 bottles but well worth it imo x

I use Aptamil, never had any milk issues. In hospital the midwife topped her up one night on formula, and she chose aptamil out of the ones they had, which were cow and gate aptaqmil and SMA, and so i chose to continue with aptamil as surely the mw would of chosen the better one. Also meant to be closest to breast milk so much so that their poo's are almost like breatfed babies.. works for us anyway!

We started on SMA but it made Rebecca constipated. The little bottles in the starter pack were fab in hospital and for the first days at home though!

Now we use aptimil (have been for a week) - so far so good

I use aptamil as it's meant to be closest to breastmilk. Edward is fine on it, not had any problems xx
