My husband and I had been TTC for two years. On April 13th I got BFP. On April 30 I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. I got a shot of methotrexate shot on May 1. I have never had so much emotional pain in my life. I have been bleeding for three weeks. I feel like my doctor's office has kind of dropped me....before I was diagnosed I got the results of the my blood draw the day after. Now...I call and they act surprised I want to know my levels. I went from 3500 to 700 and haven't gotten the latest back.

How long does it take to go to zero after the shot?

My doctor said we could start TTC immediately after my first period. My husband DESPERATELY want to try again. I am petrified. I haven't seen any good results following an ectopic.

He is 34, I am 35. He has a 12 year old and I have no children.

Has anyone had a baby after an ectopic after the age of 35?

I'm so sorry you've had to go through this :hugs:

I had an ectopic in 2010 - I was given methotrexate to treat it and then follow up blood work to confirm that levels were dropping. Make sure you chase for the blood results as there's no way they should discharge you until hcg is under 5 (non pregnant level). It sounds like you've had a good drop in levels already but definitely follow it up to make sure it continues.

I'm not sure how long it should take to get to 0 and I can't remember how long it took for me, sorry.

The most important thing about ttc after methotrexate is that you must wait AT LEAST 3 months after getting the injection - and this is a minimum. It works by stripping all the folic acid out of your body and so trying before it's had a chance to replenish massively increases the risk of spina bifida. I was told under no circumstances to start taking folic acid again until it was confirmed that hcg was back down to non pregnant levels.

There can be a good outcome after this though! We waited a year before ttc again as neither of us felt ready before then and I needed to heal, but were lucky enough to get pregnant the first month of trying and DS is now 2 1/2 and baby 2 is due in September! I feel extremely lucky and I was also petrified of trying again so I know how you feel.

Good luck :flower:
