hello,
i have my private gender scan booked for next sat ) not sure if ill get the gender this early but i hope so) but just wanted to no what happens at a private scan... i have invited my sister so i wanted it to be a nice experience...thanks..

I had mine yesterday, its eally good the im 17 weeks but she put me back to 16 plus 3. i saw baby in 4d allthough she is still boney, was well worth the £79 i paid. now ive gone shopping mad I cant help it. they basically make you comfortable and if baby is lying wrong they will tel you to have a walk. its not rushed or anything was really good ! x

You just get on the reclined chair, pull up your top (make sure you wear an easy top to pull up and bottoms to push down a bit so the gel doesnt get on them) and the sonographer will put gel on your belly and begin having a look for baby and babies bits! They can't be certain at this stage about the sex but they should be able to tell you that they are sure about 70%. They will also tell you how baby is growing and if all looks ok. It's amazing :) I've had my 20 week scan and 4d scan since, and the genders originally told at my 16 week scan are still right!

That's right the same as any other ultrasound examination except they are a bit more open to questions, friendly and you can bring your family with you

Some people use private scan as bragging rights just to say they went private

Also just because it's private you cannot pick and choose appointments they have a waiting list too and sometimes you have to take what your given

Thanks girls,

i booked it over a month ago and finger crossed they can tell me the gender then....i no its not 100 percent and im happy with that.... Its sad some people have to use it to brag they went private.. im only doing it as partner is in the navy and cant make my 20 weeks scan as is away at sea and i would to be with him when they tell us the gender... its not a 3d one or anything just a bog standard scan....

Do they have big tvs and things so we can have a look etc or is it mostly done on the computer...

xx

They will have a monitor for you to see it all :)

I had mine done at 16+4 and they said he was a boy and then at my 20 week they confirmed he is still a boy!

The place I had mine done had a big flat screen tv on the wall so LO looked huge lol. Its so clear and you can see everything as the sonographer is scanning.

We didn't get ours so we could brag, we got it because we were too impatient to find out LO's sex. It was such a fanatastic experience and it feels so personal because you are not being rushed in and out asap. I loved it because when we have had scans at the hospital, OH gets to sit and watch everything on the little monitor but I barely see anything coz its facing the other way :-( I would reccommend a private scan to anyone, its fab! The pics etc are way better quality too - worth every penny!!

Oh and back to the bragging thing, I have never known anyone to 'brag' about a private scan?? Its often just for reassurance in some cases! We have booked a 4d scan for 27 weeks so that we can see LO again and this time OH's parents are coming too - brag brag brag brag brag brag lol

i had mine saturday , they were really nice , the room which i had my scan in was quite large it had a nice leather sofa for hubby and kids and a nice big soft recliner bench thing for me , you ot a towel to cover your trousers instead of a bit of tissue paper and they took their time looking , they paused the screen (which was about 32 " tv id say ) and pointed out to me why they thought it was a girl and gave me tissues when i cried hahah .
he seemed fairly sure on the gender however said he could only say it was only 80 % accurate at this stage

I too have mine next Friday. I'll be 16+3. They say they're 99% accurate from 15weeks onwards so we'll see. I do hope it's not rushed <3 Ours is $50 with Dvd, Pics etc :) Can't wait, Hope my Tiny is nice enough to let us see :3.... Here's hopeing!.
