Hi

My husband and I have our first doctors appointment on the 28th about TTC.
We have been trying since I stopped the pill in July 2012 with no success and are starting to feel really disheartened now.
What can we expect to happen during our first appointment?

Xx

Didn't want To read and run, am sure they may do blood tests for you at certain points in your cycle to check that you ovulate, and then hubby at some point will be asked to do a sa(sperm analysis) and I think they go from there, my sister is currently going through a similar process so has mentioned a couple of things, I hope they get I the bottom of things for you . X

Hi i had to see doc after trying with no luck for 2 yrs with my first. I'm also in uk & was over 7 yrs ago so don't knw if anything has changed but first he/she will ask u hw long u have been trying thy only refer u if it has been a year or over. Then u wil get referred to a gynochologist, thy first check the man so DH sperm then if no problems thr will check u for bloods whch i hd t go in to hospital for bloods on cd19/20/21 (i thnk thy check for ovulation with those) & then u get an appointment to get get ur tubes checked. That's all i had as thy discovered DH was fine. My ovulation levels wer low so & tubes were fine so put me on clomid & i conceived he is nw 7 & the lov of my life. Good luck hun & ur on ur way to getting that baby wishing u all the best x

We'd been trying for just over a year when we went to see our gp, she asked how long we'd been trying, how often we dtd, how long my cycles were and how regular and then arranged for me to do a day 21 blood test to try and establish if I was ovulating, the test came back that I wasn't so they repeated it to be sure and when it came back negative a second time she referred us to a fertility clinic and we had our first appointment several months later.

Good luck with your appointment, I hope it all goes well :flower:

Thank you for your replies.

Im really nervous but also a bit relieved that we are going to try and do something!! Xx

Oh, I also started ttc in July 2012. Seems like an eternity...
Went to gp when we started ttc, they did bloodtest, checking for German measles etc. Due to my irregular cycles also did ultrasound to check for pcos, yep check, got it.
After a year "unpregnant" (that's how the fertiliy specialist calls it blurgh), the gp referred me to fertility specialist, who is a doucheb@~ by the way (slipped in a little vent :winkwink: ) Did all tests (another ultrasound, HSG, spermanalysis) I was put on 4 months clomid, now again 4 months clomid, if still "unpregnant" (unlucky, unhappy and unbelievably irritated by all these stigmatic vocab) until August, it's time to make a baby in a petri dish  still hope though that the baby chooses a more natural environment though

Hope you have a more joyous ride on the ttc-train. At least all is free, it just takes ages, but it still makes you feel that you are getting closer to not being unpregnant anymore :haha:

Lots of love! :hugs: Keep us updated!
