When I had my dd I breastfed for the first week, which didn't work so we went onto formula, and my milk just SLOWLY dried up on it's own, but it took ages and hurt my boobs like hell.

I am going to bottlefeed from the start this time, and wondered if there is a way to stop your milk coming in or do you have to go through the whole drying out process?

My mum said when she bottlefed me they gave her a pill after the birth so her milk dried up, I just wondered if they still do this?

as far as i am aware no medication etc. with both my 2 bottle fed from birth, you have to go through whole coming in and drying out.

They only give you that medicine nowadays if you have lost your baby, I was given them both times after my first two babies died shortly after birth:cry:. They're strong drugs so they won't generally prescribe them for you just because you choose to bottlefeed.

Good luck with your baby xx

I have no clue how well it works or if it's meant to be used to help prevent the milk from coming in right after birth or just used when baby is cutting down from nursing adn some moms get engorged, but I have seen this before, maybe it would help?
