What hospitals are we all going to??

I have chosen Lister Hospital in Steveange because they're just finishing off building a brand new maternity unit!

I'll be going to the Spires unit at Oxford's JR (assuming I remain low risk) - I went there for DS and I can't recommend it enough!! x

Hi there...it is exciting to know someone else is going to the same place and has had a good experience! So far I am only familiar with the DAU and the ultrasound place... is the Spires unit the general unit we go to unless there are complications? Or, is it possible to choose the ward? Sorry if it sounds silly... this is our first so I have very limited knowledge on what to expect...

Hiya! The Spires unit is the midwife run unit on the top floor of the hospital. You have to specifically choose to go there. It's the same as other midwife led units as in you can't have an epidural and you can only go there if you are low risk - but it is brilliant though. The staff are amazing, and the facilities are great!

If you just go to the normal ward it's a few floors down and is run like a usual labour ward with docs and midwives. I've heard good and bad experiences with it there, but I think that goes for most labour wards! x

I think I'll be at the JR too! I have the choice of there or the Horton in Banbury as we live between the two, or Chipping Norton but I think I'll opt for a bigger hospital. That is really useful info about the Spires Unit, I will def ask my midwife about that (if I'm low risk, I have an appointment with a consultant on 16th Nov as I've previously had treatment for an abnormal smear).

Hello! I think Chipping Norton will be my second choice if the Spires is full (would be my luck!) - I just really like the midwife run birth centres :D The only thing with going there is that you're further away from a hospital should you need to get to one quickly. x

University hospital lewisham in London for me, hopefully I'll stay low risk and get to go to the birth centre which I've heard good things about. I've just moved though and technically my nearest hospital is Mayday but I refuse to go there.

Lewisham for me too. I'm also hoping to go to the birth centre, which is why I chose it over Princess Royal in Farnborough. We're roughly between the two anyway.
The birth centre looks really nice

The victoria hospital in kirkcaldy, its new maternity section opens beginning of january so I'll be in there come march.

I'll be going to Wythensawe hospital or some people may know it as university hospital of south manchester! x

I'm at Wythenshawe too - amazed if anyone calls it UHSM, i never even realised that until my first appointment!

This is what worries me about Chippy, if emergency intervention is needed you have to get transported somewhere else! So I thought it was full on hospital or nothing for me as I didn't realize the JR had a midwife run birth centre. Fingers crossed that the consultant doesn't see any problems and I get classed as low risk.

Medway for me, hopefully in the new birthing unit in a birthing pool but we shall see

Carle in champaign, Il for me :) hope it goes ok. I don't like the health care out here at all. Can't wait to het back to Colorado lol

im going to poole maternity in dorset where i had my son, they were brill there, both me and my oh were born there as well! xx

I was born there too! Live in the northeast now though... Gutted my baby won't be born in Poole :(

I will be going to Hartlepool General... Assuming there are no complications between now and then :)

XxX

I'll be going to Infinity Birthing Center in Tennessee :)

Countess of Chester Hospital for me. :flower:

Me too...had our little boy there too :-) was a bit annoyed as they sent me home on my induction day as I wasn't a priority (2 weeks over) but its the nearest and easier for our family! I did get my own room and bathroom after birth which was nice :-)

Ooo that would of been a terrible thing to go through, with already being 2 weeks over!! I'm praying for my own room. My Mum went there and it was good for her as she had an induction. But ended up with c-section and had her own room too. I was also born there and don't really hear of many complaints, except they are strict with people visiting?

West Middlesex University Hospital for me. Don't know anyone else who has been there but its close and the reviews seemed fine so that is it for me.

Hey, if it is close you must live near me  I went there in 2007

I was wondering if ANYONE had ever been there as no one I know seemed to know about it. Good to be reassured! :flower:

I'm a 10 minute drive from there :)
