Please Exuse the title i didnt know how else to put it lol, My DF is going to get his swimmers tested if we dont concieve this month which i dont think we have as i have started spotting which usially happens just before AF come

My Question is, for you ladies that have been in the situation where the results came back that OH had no sperm, Were did you find a sperm dona??, How did you OH React?? and did it harm your relationship because the baby was biologically yours and not his??

I am thinking positive i just like to be organised and i have no luck with anything lol so just trying to make plans if the worst happens.

Thanks Girls

Just because a guy has a low sperm count doesn't mean that you'll have to find a sperm donor. It's pretty uncommon for a guy to have absolutely no sperm in his semen. Unless you would really just prefer a sperm donor, there are other ways to go about insemination. IUI or IVF are the main ways. OH is getting his sperm tested next month if I don't get a BFP, and if he's got low sperm count, we're just going to go ahead and do IUI.

yeh i know, im just thinking of worse case really hoping that isnt the case and we can do IUI

I dont want him to feel down about it & Less of a man. because thats what hes afriad of

Thanks x

my hubby got same test done, we were told by our doc it was impossible for us to conceive naturally and referred us to infertility. when we got there we actually found out he has a high count but they said they were clumped together (not sure medical term) and that what was stopping us conceiving. were undergoing more tests to find out what routes are available to us.

I know how hard it is not to imagine the worst and I really hope it doesn't come to it, but if they were to test and not find sperm, it is not necessarily all doom and gloom.

It can be due to a blockage and so they're just not getting through. If they find out there's no sperm in the sample, they can do a procedure called Surgical Sperm Retrieval where they try to see if they can extract sperm from where it is being made and then freeze it to be used with ICSI. I really hope you get some good news, but if it is worst case scenario, give me a shout as we're going through this right now and hubby is on the waiting list for SSR.

Good luck x

I never knew that this was possible! which shows the little info we have had from our GP!, Thats great! As far as i knew if they didnt find any sperm then thats that! my DF will be pleased to hear that.

I really hope its good news aswell i just cant help thinking the worst im a worrier lol.

Thank you very much for your reply xxxxx

Well if there is no sperm being made, there is nothing they can do (until medical research finds a solution years down the line ) but just because there's no sperm in the sample, it doesn't mean he's not making it. give him the good news though (not the news about the op they would do and how they 'drill' into the testes :awww:)

Keep me posted hun and thanks for the good wishes xx

LMAO! That made me laugh :P i love the smiley aswell :haha: :awww:

If you do find that your DF's count is low, just make sure you don't react like Stacey in Gavin and Stacey - don't go with sympathy and treat him like he's got something wrong, just treat it as an obstacle for both of you to deal with. My DH has very low count and motility so we just researched what supplements he could take to help and moved on with the next step - we were put on the IVF list straight away and I'm now in the 2ww of our first ICSI cycle.

Thank you ladies, We have an appointment tomorrow, my DF went to see the GP earlier and i couldnt make it, and the doctor said come back tomorrow and he will get me booked in for a scan, i presume thats of my ovaries lol and bloods and get him booked in for a SA im soo glad i saw another doctor he was so helpful and nice to my DF im happy that we now have the ball rolling!!
@MrsR32 - good luck i hope the ICSI has worked for you and you get a sticky bean or two :) xxxxxx
