what is baby doing?!?!

FTM here...Baby was in nicu first week so this is our first real week breastfeeding. Sometimes he does this weird thing where he will fall asleep while he's feeding, then when he wakes UK a few minutes later be will throw his head back and forth and breath really fast and act like he's starting to death. It will take a few tries for him to settle to latch on then once he does he falls right back to sleep that fast. What's that about??

My daughter did that quite often the first couple weeks. I've talked to others who mentioned their children doing the same thing, so it's just one of those things some babies do that there doesn't seem to be an explanation for. She's 4 weeks now and doesn't do that very often any more though.
