What languages do you speak?

Vous avez parlé français, ou elle a appris? Je l'ai appris à l'école élémentaire et l'école seconday. Mon mari est allé à Montréal et elle a appris. Nous avons tous deux décidé que nos enfants ne vont à une école anglophone.

i speak english and russian tho havent used it in so long but can still read/understand it. also great at understanding scottish lol

I can speak - Polish, German and a little bit of Tamil & Arabic.

Hubby can speak fluently - Tamil, English (not his first language :) ), Arabic, French, Malayalam, Telugu & he can get by in Urdu & Hindi - Really impresses me his ability with languages

I speak English & basic Spanish!!Trying to get better though!x

i speak english and enough french to get by  i also can speak some latin but im yet to meet anyone else that can, damn my posh high school lol

I learnt Latin at school as well. Though its been years the only word that sticks in my head is Veda which means life

French - I can read it and understand it if someone is speaking to me in french but my own saying or writing of it is atrocious!

German - I done German for A level at school and loved it

Though I would be rusty now lol

I am a German native speaker :haha: I can speak a bit french but I suck, especially at imparfait/conditionel or future . I always confuse the forms. I can read it in a newspaper though for example and understand it.
I know a tiny bit of japanese as I had a course last semester at University. I can tell you that I am walking to the uni and study in the department of history for example :haha:
I am also learning afrikaans but I am at the beginning still :haha: and I started the Low German course at Uni this semester which is a regional minority language which is quite a lot closer to English then standard German . (they are the left over angles and saxons that didnt go over to the british islands)
It is great to compare the linguistics of the langauge such as modern english, old or middle english and low German and afrikaans etc :D
I can understand it though. The only foreign language that I am fluent in is English :P.

I can speak fluent welsh and a bit of spanish and french wish i'd stuck at it but never mind lol

I speak England (....just about some times as i swear my brain & mouth aren't connected as words literally fall out of my head!)

also some french, german and a little italian

i got an A in french at school...but ive lost it all!
taught myself very basic written arabic, literally primary school stuff, and started on russian then gave up.

I know odd words of loads though, i worked it out once i knew hello in about 15 languages! which was so cool.

im better at writing than speaking though! :) x
I also know numbers in a couple of languages that I don't speak other wise. such as Hindi(got taught by my cricket club members) italian and spanish(well luckily they arent fr from French xD. ) and I knew the Japanese numbers till ten from my sports club.

I speak Spanish and English - I lived in Spain from 5 to 28 off and on. I can get by in French and Italian, and can understand Portuguese but can't speak it.

I speak to Holly in English and Spanish, probably 70/30 - we're off to Spain next week and I've promised myself it will be 50/50 when we get back. It's just so easy to get into the habit of speaking English all the time, since everybody else does!

English, a bit of Latvian (I can read and write better than I speak and undestand) and a tiny bit of Italian. I can also read Latin which isn't particularly helpful these days!

english, russian, turkish, azeri, arabic (basic reading/writing)

i speak english and russian tho havent used it in so long but can still read/understand it. Also great at understanding scottish lol

OOooh Lyrah, you could teach me Dutch! I have family in Holland :)

Haha sure :D My OH would probably be much better to teach you though, I'm only on very basic things at the moment and he's already getting rather fluent! He's part Dutch and is really good at languages as it is... but he is doing a course in it at the moment and recently spent a week in the Netherlands with his Dutch family and picked up an awful lot! :D

xxxxx

I have a french A-level and a spanish GCSE and have also done courses in german and greek.
