Hi ladies,
DH and I are currently TTC#1 and as of yet we havent tried any specific methods. My DH and I are debating trying the Shettles method to try and conceive a girl. What methods/techniques (if any) are you trying? I'm including below what the Shettles method consists of, as when I first heard the name, I had no idea what it entailed so...
The Shettles Method for conceiving a girl says:
- You have intercourse 2 to 4 days before ovulation.
- Have intercourse often, right up until the "cutoff" of 2 to 4 days before ovulation.
- Diet: The mother should avoid caffeine.
- Sexual position: Shallow penetration using the missionary position.
- Female orgasm: Avoid it.
- Vaginal environment: Try to make the vagina as acidic as possible.

I think we'll just try it missionary style, as many times as we can. I'll avoid caffeine and try and time it correctly. I would try and not orgasm (as much as that would suck) but that's something that can be understandably difficult.
For those of you who are wanting to try for a boy though, this is what the Shettles Method includes for you:
- Have intercourse the day of ovulation.
- Abstinence: The father must not ejaculate during the 4 - 5 days before ovulation.
- Scrotal temperature: The father should "keep it cool".
- Sperm count: The father should avoid other causes of reduced sperm count.
- Diet: The father may have some caffeine just before intercourse.
- Female orgasm: Have one!
- Vaginal environment: Try to make the vagina as alkaline as possible.

Good luck ladies, hopefully the techniques and methods you try prove beneficial. Let us know what techniques and/or methods you're trying, or even considering trying. Baby Dust to you all ladies!
