Hey all,

My DD is 2 and a half and we have a little slide and a rocker and some tunnels and tents but i'm thinking about a sandpit/water table/climbing frame/swing for the summer.

What have you got? What's worked? What hasn't? Where did you get them and have you got any pics??

Thanks all xx

We seem to have everything in our garden. But our two spend a lot of time in the garden.

We have:

Double swing
Climbing frame with den and slide
Separate slide
See-saw
Playhouse
12ft trampoline

In the playhouse they have:
Trikes/bikes
Scateboards
Sand/water table
Quoits
Tennis set
Croquet set
Tractor and trailer/jcb digger
Loads of balls
Easel and chalk
Mini diggers
Other odds and ends

The slide/swings/trampoline we wouldn't be without. We bought all except the trampoline second hand.
The playhouse was second hand too and is great for storing stuff.

The other bits and pieces i think they could actually live without most of the time. All they seem to do is take them out and then not really play with them!!!! The main thing they do play with is the little diggers and the job digger - they love shifting soil around the garden!!

We have a sandbox with all of your regular beach toys to go in it, a kid's pool, a water table, and a slide/climber combo. She loves them all! I think the kid's pool is her favourite, she spends hours just splashing around and playing with her toys in there in the summer. :)

Brilliant! Have you got any pics so I have an idea of sizes etc? X

We have a swingset with slide and rockwall, DH built a sandbox into the bottom it so they have all their sand toys in there, water table, kiddie pool, toy lawnmower, toy spades toy watering cans, ride on toys, tricycle, power wheel (they just got this, its for their bdays but we gave early so they get plenty of use out of it this summer), sidewalk chalk, bubbles and assortment of bubble blowers, sprinkler, bouncy house (we only get this out for bday parties or play dates though bc its a pain to put up/take down)

We have a lot of outdoor toys, but I do home daycare so I need to have a variety. We have 2 smaller Little Tikes slides, a Cozy Coupe Little Tikes car, a play house, and two larger pieces of equipment in the photos I've attached. Their favorite is the "Step 2 Clubhouse Climber" (the one in the first picture). If I had to get rid of everything and just keep one, that'd be it :)

So far we have a pool, a sand/water table, a digger, bubbles (indoor or outdoor use), a plastic golf set, a trike which he just pushes himself along on, tractor, a quad bike and I think that's it.

It's a lot for one child, his cousin's and friends make use of it too :) he's getting a scooter for his birthday and a play doh table which we'll put outside when it's nice weather. I would also like to get him a small slide but we need to finish landscaping our garden (done half last year).

I was also thinking of getting him a bouncy castle but TBH I think he's got enough now. His cousin's have a trampoline so he uses that at theirs and he doesn't like swings.

Some pictures :)

Oh he also has this ride on thing

Almost anything can be an outdoor toy, cars, cups, mostly anything plastic!

We also have a 12ft family pool.

She actually has no outdoor play stuff. There's the yard with all that a yard naturally has to offer. There's also the neighbor's toys and the playground. Violet has played at the neighbor's on occasion and has been to the playground a few times. It seems there's so much for her to do without having to bother buying outdoor toys for her.

The main thing we have which just stays out is a boat play centre. I dont know how to put the picture up though....https://www.thetoyshop.com/medias/sys_master/images/8803980967966/500371_Direct-515Wx515H.jpg

She also has a wooden bench and table which has a sandbox under the table. This isnt waterproofed so has to go back in the shed.

She has a bike but goes to the park with that really and a scooter which just stays inside.

Im not much fond of our garden as its all concrete but I want to get a pot or something and fill it up with soil so she can pretend to be gardening.

For those that have sandpits outside....how do you store it? do you have to cover it up when the children have finished playing? Im just curious as our play centre has an area under for a sandbox but I didnt know how practical that was.

We've got a big wooden play thing which is a slide, double swing, seesaw swing, monkey bars, Wendy house, picnic bench, fort (it was supposed to be £1000 buy we got it at an absolute steal of £300 as someone bought it and then emigrated before using it and had to sell it quickly)

A large wooden sandpit (full of buckets, spades, sivs etc)

A ride on Mini Cooper

A cosy cooper (sp) little tikes classic

Wooden skittles

Scooter

Bike

Gorgeous wooden toddler gardening tools that mil bought her

Tent and tunnel set (but we rarely get it out)

Hilariously. The people that lived here before us, left behind some plastic garden statues- tacky things such as hedgehogs, rabbits, frogs wearing waistcoats etc - roughly 12 of them. I was going to throw them away but dd1 LOVES them! Carries them around, talks to them, plays little games with them, pushes them in her dolly pram. She's even named them all.

And then some days I fill up a tub with water which has a teaset etc

But as someone else said it's kind of if it's plastic anything goes!

Oh and then the other day she played with a caterpillar she named Ernest for about an
Hour! Lol

She spends a lot of time outside!

Eta- oh yeah and A 14 ft trampoline
