when moving into a new home?

maybe im a bit nosey but i like to go throught all the cupboards see if the last people have left anything behind and when we moved into this house i found a positive pregnancy test in the drawer under the sink!! we also found loads of things in the loft but the test was just odd, it was sat there on its own.

So have you found anything random?

The previous tenants of my house had taken EVERYTHING they possibly could including all the lightbulbs and dado rails :haha: the only things they left were broken glass all over the garden plus they'd filled in 2 ponds with bits of cars including engines!

When we moved in to our new house, on top of the fitted wardrobes, we found a Porn Dvd.. "The Biggest Girth on Earth" (can I say this here?) :haha: Very random!

Saucy polaroids with an 80s perm lol! We had almost a house full of stuff as we bought it off the bank. I felt awful throwing it out but we didn't know what else to do with it.

when my parents moved into their house, there was a matress, black screen, whips and a tripod in the loft haha and the post for the guy who use to live there is always total naked porno! He comes into the shop i work in, if only he knew what i knew about him haha!

Nothing, ever. I have nosied in the places where I'd hide things myself though, like down the back of cupboards, under fitted drawers etc. never anything. So disappointing!

If we ever move the next person would have a treat, there is no way on earth I am emptying my loft or death cupboard

this house and the previous house I have found g strings that had fallen out from behind the radiator.

The most interesting thing we had when we moved in here was a computer desk, which one of the other neighbours asked for as they had lent it to the previous tennant, we told them it was gone and are still using it to this day :haha:

i think lofts are great as people always forget to empty them, my daughter had a few new toys thanks to the previous tenants

the house me and OH used to live in with MIL - one day was sorting out the understairs bit and pulled up the floor board and there was a car door

When OH & I first moved in together we rented a 2bed house in a pretty rough area. The previous tenants to live there had the door put through by 2 men with axes that were trying to get to him! Anyway, we found all of his police and court reports from a few of his arrests  quite an interesting read!

When I moved into my first house, the previous owner had left a garage full of electrical equipment that didn't work, two big double-glazed PVC windows and other various mess. He said he would be back to take it all but he never did, so we ended up getting a skip over a year later and getting rid of it all.

In our current house they didn't really leave anything weird. There were two 'Santa stop here' signs left, which I used last Christmas :D

when i moved into our flat the last tenants left their bed, fully made, with matress etc, their wardrobe, their dinning room table, tv unit, a huuuge beanbag, toothbrushes etc in bathroom, laptop charger, we found 2 old £50 notes in the basement too!!
im pretty sure they had done a runner!!

landlady said she didnt have a chance to clean the flat up as her mum was taken ill abroad so had to go be with her, so we could either move in & she would knock £100 off the 1st months rent, or we can wait until she came back..

so we cleaned it ourselves & made a nice sum of money selling the bits they had left :) xx

Nothing, but we have just moved out of our house & we realised the other day that dh had left a couple of questionable dvds under one of the drawers in the bedroom  so the new guy will have a treat if he finds those

When we moved in our house there was a box of guitar books and a signed picture of someone, not sure who it is and dont know how to find out? Other than that I dont think there was anything else.

I moved into a flat that I knew a 28 YO single man had lived in it before, he'd used the small room as a gym, so I imagined this babe... until I found photos of him and his boyfriend in compromising positions under the carpet in the main bedroom wardrobe. It was awful. There was also a few bank statements that had a HUGE over draft, a bill for a credit card for over 9k and a photo of a girl doing a handstand.

Im an inventory clerk so go into propertys that tenants have rented to check they are fit for new ones and do the report to determin whether the deposit is released!

You would be amazed the things i find!
To name a few:
Porn dvds/pictures
bloody stained underware!!!!
dog poo in kitchen drawers
drug aparatus (think they are called bongs?)
lots of dodgy designer clothes, perfumes etc
lots of people leave wardrobes and drawer full with clothes
and the state that people leave mattresses in are shocking!! Landlords put new ones in when the tenants move in and when i go to check them out they are covered in god only knows what and covered in blood stains!! (i know that us ladys may have accidents/leaks in the night but my god i would never ever leave that) i would either bin it myself and have the money deducted or replace it)
There is so much more but i cant think!

Im not one to judge but the way some people live/leave houses is beyond words!
Ive had one house that i actually refused to checkout as the smell was hideous and i couldnt get past the front door without gagging!

Nothing drastic compared with other posters but several years ago when we moved into a rented flat we found a pair of men's pants and some odd socks in the chest of drawers. We discovered when we moved out 3 years later that the TV had belonged to the previous tenant and the landlord asked us if we wanted it. Yes please!!

a hash pipe and grinder on top of the kitchen cupboards - pretty sure that was the guy who lived here before us hiding place from his wife!
