What should i expect at my sons appointment/assessment??

My son has an appointment AT LAST! on 6th August with paediatric doctor to determine whether he does or does not have autism. I just wondered if anyone has gone throught this initial assessment and what it is likely to involve, and if we will get a diagnosis there and then?? So many questions
