i have a habbit of ALWAYS going for a pee after sex and to clean up but since ttc ive been wondering if this is a bad thing? would the pee wash out the sperm? lol i know that sounds silly
so should i be laying flat or legs up or what? and how long for? i dont fancy the thought of using those cup things

hey hun,i used to have a habbit of doing that too lol theres lots of different things people say u can try after sex but the main two r,lay on ur back with ur hips elevated (with a pillow) for at least 20 mins after.i have been doing this most months and nothing yet but this time as ive been told i have a tilted cervix and trying the other classic of laying flat on ur tummy for as long as poss after.heres hoping xx

i used to go to loo straight away but not been doing this since TTC...i lay down as long as possible and put my bum on a cushion...altho i have been seen to stand on my head before now :)

For sure you need to be lying still for at least 20 mins and pop a pillow under your bum so that your hips are tilited - that's what i've read at least

Put your legs up against the wall on a pillow for 20 mins then sleep with the goods in, worked for me 4 times!!xxx

Lying on your front would be counterproductive...the gravity of that position would mean the spermies would dribble away from the goal (cervix) due to the natural angle of the vagina and cervix.

Lying with your legs up and/or a pillow under your bottom is - from a gravity POV - ideal to allow the semen to stay as close to the cervix as possible.

A lot of women use softcups or mooncups - internal cups to keep the semen near the cervix.

I struggle after sex because I always need a pee and obviously with the intraabdominal pressure of peeing, some semen always dribbles out. It shouldnt be 'washed out' though as we dont pee from the vagina. I always try to pee before sex, if I know I'm going to get lucky *nudge nudge, wink wink*

The glamorous world of TTC eh? What we have to do for that :bfp: ...its worth it though. I'd do cartwheels down Liverpool city centre butt naked if it meant I could have my :bfp: !!!!!

Not if you have a tilted womb/cervix!!

Doggy style is also recommended for ladies with a tilted womb/cervix as it gets it in the right direction.

I am one of these ladies. :haha:

thats also what ive heard and my fav position is doggy.theres a thread in this section "hints and tips for bfp" and two ladies in there have both stated lying on their front is how they got pregnant xx

Who told you yours was tilted... my gynae just mentioned it in passing "has anyone ever told you its tilted?" he was having trouble doing an internal, and I was like whhhhhhhhhhhat?, he never explained what it was either. :haha:

I had to ask my mum! And funnily enough my mums is tilted too!

exactly what i had lol 2 years ago when i was getting fitted for a coil, the nurse really had to push down on the spectrum and said "u have a very hard to find cervix, its tilted,u will have trouble in childbirth" i was like oh great thanks for that lol i mentioned it to my fs last month as i was afraid this was also not helping to get pregnant and he said "10-20% of women have a tilted cervix/womb without even knowing it and it only makes it difficult in childbirth, not actually getting pg" xx

The angle of your womb has no relevance to the position after sex. A retroverted uterus is quite common and makes no difference to the position you lie in. A retroverted uterus also has no effect on fertility.

The 'tilt' is relative to the fundus (the top of the womb) to the cervix. A retroverted uterus lady's cervix would likely not be in too different position compared to those with anteverted uterus. (A lot of women with 'normal' anatomy have trouble with speculum exams tbh...it often depends on the experience of the examiner...trust me it takes a while to be able to wield one of those plastic ducks with panache!)

My mother has a retroverted uterus and lay with her legs in the air. She had 2 children.

Saying that though, most studies show a retroverted uterus doesnt always make childbirth difficult as the tilt often 'corrects' itself at the start of the 2nd trimester.

I have a tilted cervix and womb and I have 2 children and NEVER laid there with my legs in the air or what not. I almost could swear I went pee afterwards LOL each time I got preggers and look where I am today.

About childbirth: My first son was a Csection because I wouldn't dilate...however I VBAC my 2nd son and it was 6 hours labor and he was out in 3 pushes. They told me my next one I better come at the first twinge of a pain LOL or I might not be there in time! Goodluck everyone I hope my "input" helps LOL...although I admit with this one I am TRYING to get pregnant and it seems much harder when your trying than when your not for me! LOL I got preggers and wasn't trying very easy and now that we are actually wanting a 3rd its seeming almost impossible so YES I am guilty of my legs up in the air HAHAHAHA
