Please bare with me I'm new at these forums. We've been TTC now for about two years now. Long story short--- I've been off BC for about two years. When I didn't get pregnant after the first year off the pill I started charting for about 6 months. My family doctor suggested I see an OBGYN. I did and she put me on clomid for three months. My CD 21 progesterone was 20, 15, 14. Since Clomid didn't work she told me to take a month off and suggested my husband get tested. He did and everything was normal. My CD21 without meds was a 4 so my dr said the medicine was working. Then the fifth month she put me on femera and my cd21 was 12.

So I guess my question is what should I do next? I don't have anyone to talk to really. All of my friends have had no problems getting pregnant and they don't really think this is a big deal.

I don't go in to see the doctor every month and everything is through text message. I'm one of those people that want to know why things are happening. What should my next steps be? Is it normal to be on clomid and femera and ovulate and still not get pregnant?

Every time I call for my day 21 results my numbers I guess are so good the the nurses or even the dr through text is like wow that's great news, but then it's always a BFN.

My cycle is usually 30 days. Also since these fertility meds I have been spotting for about 5 days and then have really heavy bleeding. At first I thought I screwed everything up because I didn't count the spotting as day 1.

Anyways sorry for the big long message. Any input would be appreciated!,

my question is how do they know your follicle size without going in for a scan? and do you get triggered to make sure you release the egg before its too ripe? I don't know too much about the progesterone levels. my RE always goes based off of the levels and my scans and make sure my lining is okay before even taking the next steps. im kind of confused about the process you Dr is taking.

Thank you so much for responding. So what kind of scans should I ask for? And is this before or after I take clomid or femera.

I was kind of ify when the doctor just looked at full bloodwork from my family doctor and right away she put me on clomid. I'm not sure what kind of questions to be asking.

Sure no problem.

okay im going to break down to you how I know its done for myself and most women in this forum as well. did you have an HSG done to make sure your tube are not blocked?
1)when AF comes you go in for a scan before meds to check follicles baseline and also bloodwork
2) start either femara or clomid the days you were told by RE
3) after you have finished taking the meds you would go back for another follicle scan until follicle or follicles are mature. reason for this is to check follicle growth. at my RE when follicles are at at least 17mm-26mm you would then get triggered (usually something like this "Ovidrel (choriogonadotropin alfa) Injection is used to treat certain fertility problems in women. It is the hormone (hCG) that causes the growth and release of a mature egg (ovulation). It is usually used in combination with another hormone (FSH) that helps cause healthy ovaries to produce eggs"

4) then my RE or nurse will tell me exactly when to BD and when to take a pregnancy test (14 days after O)

if your not doing this what is the process you take?

Hey! Currently I am doing unmonitored (no u/s) clomid with my OBGYN. It makes me ovulate but I don't know much else like how big are the follicles, is my lining thick enough etc. This is what I choose for now because I live 1.5 hours away from the nearest fertility specialist. If I don't have success in the next 2-3 cycles I will be seeing a specialist for monitored cycles. You are ovulating on the meds but there may be something else that is preventing pregnancy. At this point you may want to consider heading over to a fertility clinic. Most OBGYNs are not fertility specialists and it seems as though your doc has exhausted every option she is familiar with.

I don't feel like I can talk to my friends about any of my fertility stuff. One friend I thought would be really understanding told me she thinks all the vitamins I take is keeping me from getting pregnant, uh, seriously??? I don't really know anyone who has had fertility issues. I also know that I don't tell anyone about my problems so maybe I do know people who have had a hard time getting pregnant and they just did not share that information.
