What to expect at first infertility appt.

Ive scheduled my first appointment for infertility in one month after ttc for 10 months! I know for a fact that they will be doing a follicular ultrasound, and being that I've had no blood work done in the past they will probably end up doing that.
but I am not big on doctors so I have not been in so long, and I have no idea what to expect! Especially for infertility. My husband will also be analysed. Any reply would be helpful!

I recently went to my first year of trying appointment about 2 weeks ago! My doctor and I talked a lot about my previous cycles, my family history, my husbands history, and also when we have intercourse around our fertile days etc. After that she talked me through the first steps which were taking every blood test possible to rule out PCOS, hypothyroidism, as well as measuring my prolactin levels. Hubby had to also go in for a semen analysis. All of my results came back normal and now we are just waiting for his. Depending on his results, the next steps are either A. I am put on a fertility drug like clomid or femera to jump start ovulation. Or B. Have my fallopian tubes checked out to make sure they are clear.

The appointment went well. I left with a lot more insight and confidence that this year we will get pregnant. My suggestion for you is to come with many questions and know your cycle!

I recently went to my first appointment re: TTC/Infertility. They sent me a packet of papers in the mail asking for detailed history on us and immediate family. They'll want to know about your cycles, what you've tried, ask you what you feel works/doesn't. I took full advantage of finally going, did every test they offered me to get more info. They know you're nervous, so hopefully they have great patient care skills. And every doc is different, but I went on December 1st for the first time, and have been doing tests until today. On Tuesday I'm going in to review the results. So one thing is that it takes more time than at least I thought it would to get some answers. Hopefully too, doc will tell you his thoughts on what he thinks is going on based on the info. After my first appt, I was sent home with rx's for prenatals and provera, an antibiotic for the shg they scheduled that day, dh's SA cup. I hope you have a great appointment! Same here as all of the other ladies. We knew in our appointment already that I was dealing with Hypothyroidism. They sent DH for an SA, and that's when we found out he has such a low normal morphology rate. We've now been referred to the fertility centre. We've been told its a 3-5 month wait to hear from them (but thats in Canada, could be different where you are).
