What to expect during non-stress test?

I will start having non-stress tests next week, every week, because of gestational diabetes. Anyone here had a non-stress test before? I think it will be just like a stress test, minus the contractions brought on by nipple stimulation or even oxytocin in some cases.

What were your experience with these?

I think a non-screen test is simply being put on the monitors (strapped to your belly) for a period of time to check baby's heart rate, and you click a button when you feel movement. It's just boring.

I had to undergo numerous NSTs during my final weeks as my amniotic fluid was low.. Was hvng them 3x a week.. It is fairly simple.. They just stick some wires and monitors on ur belly n ask u to press a button whenever baby moves or there is a contraction..make sure u eat or drink smethng fizzy or sweet 20--30 mins prior to test fr better movement.. They will record his heartbeat on any movement n it shud b higher than normal.. My Bebe always reacted crazily to orange soda. Good luck

Oh..n it is verrrrrry boring.. Goes on for 30 mins usually if they get a decent no. Of movements..other, its a long battle...
