Hi tomorrow my husband and I have our initial consultation. What questions should i ask? For iui and ivf for any testing is it pay as you go or everything has to be paid before they even do any testing. About how much does either cost? If you have to do testing or get medicine can you get it done elsewhere or do you have to do their plan their way? How fast can you normally get the ball rolling if you have the funds? has anyone who has done ivf also done an egg share program?

Sorry for all of the questions and rambling, im anxious, excited and nervous all at once

The fertility clinic I have been going to really has it together. My first, we meet with doctor so he could get some history. From there, the nurse explained all the procedures that we needed to go through for testing and had already contacted the insurance company. So, she was able to go through everything including what was and wasn't covered. After all of my testing, we had another consult with doctor. I have premature ovarian failure and no menstrual cycles. So explained to us, our options were IUI with injections or IVF and he also gave us percentage or success rates. From here, the nurses when over both procedures in detail as well as costs. Again, they had already talked to the insurance company and told us what would and wouldn't be covered. I don't know how your clinic works, but my clinic really has it together and they have pretty much been walking us through the steps.

I believe you can get the ball rolling pretty quickly. Although, at our clinic, they are cycle dates, usually once a month. So, if they are already in the midst of a cycle, you may have to wait a month. But each clinic might different. I don't know anything about egg sharing programs. I've read a little about them... sounds like you could really save you some money. I have a very low egg count. I don't think they could get enough from me to share. LOL. I hope I was a little helpful. Good luck!

thanks hun. i appreciate it. good luck with everything

My first appt my doctor got all my tests scheduled. After all my tests came back he gave me a paper with a list A thru E. Of course "A" being the first thing we will try, then if "A" fails I will move to "B". The farthest I ever moved was to Plan B before I became pregnant with my daughter. We are now trying to conceive again (2.5 years later) and are on Plan B again ... it worked, but I miscarried. Anyhow, the whole goal is to keep your head up and positive. Depending on if your insurance is accepted or not is what the costs run. Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover Infertility treatment so I have to pay cash. Here's just an overview.

IUI without injectables: apprx $1100 per round
IUI with Injectiables: $2000-$2500 per round

IVF starts at: $13,500 per round

Hope this helps a little. Baby dust!!!!

my insurance doesnt cover it so i pay out of pocket myself also. good luck with everything dear, you will get your bfp soon
