What should I pack for my hospital bag with a planned csection? Any must haves? I know there are plenty of threads about this for laboring but not sure if different from a planned section?

Here's my list :)

Hospital Bag

Toothbrush/toothpaste
Hairbrush
Shampoo
Conditioner
Soap
Deoderant
Q-tips

Pajamas
Nursing tops
Underwear
Socks
Shirts
Pants
Housecoat
Slippers

Breastfeeding Pillow
Breast pump
Nursing pads

Tablet + Charger
Iphone + Charger
Camera + Charger

Baby

Baby blanket
Onesies/sleepers
Pants
Coming home outfit
Socks
Hat
Mittens

Diapers
Wipes
Vaseline
Nipple Cream

Keep in mind I will be 2-2.5 hours from home so I'm taking everything I can think of possibly needing as it's not that easy to come home for something.

The only thing I would say that is different is buy huuuuuge underwear that come up to about your belly button as you do not want anything touching the scar at all. Also take extra clothes as the stay in hospital is usually longer, I was in for 5 days with my son. Good luck! X

I've got two sets of pyjamas in there - I remember a lot of leaking last time. Preferably dark ones which don't show anything!

granny panties!!! you wont want anything rubbing near your wound. also a nightie is a good idea as pj pants can also rub. books or a laptop is a good idea because hospital is sooooooo boring. i slept the days away because i was so bored. snacks are also a good idea! i was pretty much just being given soup and mince the whole time i was there and was really hungry hahha. so i had loads of crackers and chips and candy!

I second the dark jammies! I bought myself some black ones just in case of leakage.

Ear plugs for all the crying babies on the ward all night or you wont get any sleep...lol...lots of pads etc....xx

I think it's also good to check with your hospital to see what it provides. I changed hospitals due to moving across the country while pregnant with DS. The one hospital said I had to provide pretty much everything so I packed a huge duffle bag. When I got to the new hospital the nurses laughed at me. I had the messiest room in the whole ward.:haha:

In our hospital everyone just wore a double layer of hospital gowns (one forwards and one backwards), and they even had blankets, outfits and soothers for the baby to use while in the hospital. It was better to use theirs as the nurses assumed the stuff the baby had were theirs. We nearly lost a homemade blanket as the nurses were about to toss it into the laundry. After that we just used what they gave us.

Here's my list so far...
I definitely need to check with my hospital, that's a good idea. I hope they provide cloth diapers, that'll lighten my load a lot!

Hi... thnx a milion for advice !!! This is the first time I've joined a forum and I'm soooo happy to find an answer to my question immediately :)

Hope everything goes fine for all of us :)

I had way too much for my stay in hospital & had to get hubby to come in with a bag & take a bunch home! This is what I needed in the end, was in hospital for 2 nights -

Me -

2 pairs leggings
2 pairs pj's
3 shirts
2 nursing bras
a whole bunch of big unflattering granny pants
toothbrush/paste
make up wipes
various make up
body wash
face wash
nursing pillow
ipad
laptop
phone
slippers
cardigan
pillow (because the hospital one's are crap!)

Baby -
about 4 changes of clothes
muslin wrap x2
cotton wool
nappies (about 10 or so)

Lant time I had a labour bag and a post birth bag for me and a bag for baby. The second 2 were left in the car til after lo was born. This time as my section is planned I will ditch the labour bag. I was in hospital for 3 nights last time but I had some complications after my emergency section.

I had a bag of extras that dh bought in day 2 or 3 that I'd already packed just in case of a longer stay so I didn't look like I was moving in immediately! This had new nightie more pants more nappies and baby clothes etc. this saved him lots of stress and no doubt tearing our house apart trying to find things!!

I was soo thirsty I had Ribera/cordial as the drinking water wasn't that pleasant. Also I barely slept night 2 and 3 whilst trying to establish bf so was very glad of lots of nibble things to keep me awake.

I'd definitely second a decent pillow. I took my v pillow in and it was wonderful.

I'm looking forward to the lack of unknown this time with a planned section. Good luck

I'd say the things you'd need different to a normal delivery are the big knickers.

Nursing pillow is very useful if your going to breastfeed, and even if your not as it allows baby to be held without touching your wound. I'd expect a very useful piece of equipment when your having twins.

Snacks and drinks if you don't want to be reliant on hospital food. Also its nice to have something to snack on when baby wakes you up in the middle of the night.

Definitely recommending granny panties, yoga pants, pj pants, and a big robe or housecoat if you need to walk around. Pretty much everything you would take for a vaginal birth would apply to what you should bring, especially pads because you will still be bleeding. I like the suggestions for two separate bags because there is never enough space for all the stuff.

One thing I see no one ever writes on their list is moisturiser. Do you guys not moisturise your faces overseas?
