Okay so Saturday I left my boys with SIL and my brother while i went to the ER....Today I took my boys a bath and found two bruises on Jovanni I dont want to think bad but what else am I suppose to think? When I was at the ER SIL was txting me if I was out already because Jr wouldnt stop crying when I got to their house Jr and Jovanni where asleep and Jr was crying in his sleep but Jovanni is the one I saw the bruises on today. My brother hadnt told my sil that they were going to watch the kids while I went to the hospital so she didnt seem to happy when I dropped them off....ugh I dont want to think bad but what else can I do?

Where are the bruises and how big are they?

There is one like below his knee and there is another one like almost close to his bum

They are like a quarter size and you can notice them well. I will take a picture

Has he said anything? They're not places that you'd usually think of if you thought something untoward had gone on. Could you ask your SIL about them? Is she the type of person who gets angry quickly?

He loves my boys as he only has girls and wants a son but SIL didnt seem too happy when we picked up my boys...stupid computer wont let me download the picture. She normally tells me if they ate but that day she seemed not herself

my lil man gets brusises from falling and running into things ect is it possible that maybe something like that happened? im always finding new brusies on him

Helen is constantly covered in bruises and i never know where she got them! I think it's common for an active toddler to be bruised:shrug: by all means ask your SIL if she knows how he did them but maybe in a non confrontational way- I would be very upset if anyone suggested Helens bruises were caused by me.

Those are really common areas to get bruises from falling. Kids are constantly falling on their knees, and their bum. I would be more worried about finger print bruises on arms from grabbing. Why not just innocently ask? I am not keen on babysitting my sister's kids...in fact, get right ticked sometimes, but I would NEVER EVER hit them!! I would say, keep your eye on any further interactions, but no, I wouldn't jump to conclusions on this one.

I agree with the other ladies.

The bruises are most likely from tripping or banging into something.

It's OK to ask, and natural that you want to rule out anything terrible, but be very careful about it. It's a serious thing to imply. And if your SIL was already hesitant about looking after them, if she feels like her effort ended in her getting accused of something, she'll likely never agree to look after them again. So I'd approach it carefully.

"Did he bang his knee again while he was over there? He's always doing that...."

This might draw out what you need to know.

DS is always covered in bruises - not really from falling over, but from throwing himself around etc.

To be honest I wouldn't question bruises on a toddler unless there was a very good reason to question it. If that makes sense...

:hugs:

I dont think i would worry about those sorts of bruises. Lillian is always getting bruises like that where she bangs into things or lands heavy onto something on her bum. All sound like normal bruises to me:thumbup:

I'm not planning on asking her since I think that with just asking her she might think I'm blaming her....I'm letting it go....I guess I just wrote this thread right after I found the bruises and I was upset :haha: thanks ladies
