DH has just decided that ours is really heavy but not very warm and I went online to see what's out there but there are so many different kinds of filling in them, I have no idea what would be nice!

I guess we are looking for something that would be nice and cosy and comfy but not too heavy...can anyone recommend a nice filling?

:flower:

It depends on how much you are willing to spend tbh. We have a duck feather and down duvet and it's really warm (we are still only using the 3.5tog part of it) and its not heavy.
If you want to go for the next stage up then you can get duck or goose down and they are super nice but more expensive.
I would stay away from anything manmade as they do tend to be heavier.

If I was you I'd go shopping in the sales after Christmas-we got our sons duvet (same filling as ours but only a single size) and we paid around £50 rather than £130.

I used to have a feather one too. It was a 4 tog and we used it all year and just added a thin blanket on my side in the winter if it was especially cold.

We used to have a feather one but it drove me crazy when it got a hole in it and feathers would fly everywhere when changing the covers

We have two because wifey prefers to be cool when she sleeps and I like to be warm. I have a 10 tog down duvet and wifey has a 7.5 tog down duvet :)

A good quality one shouldn't do this, Iv had mine 5 years and not seen a feather at all.

iv a 7.5tog feather duvet, use it all year as it seems to be lovely and cool in the summer and cosy in winter, i love the way they fluff up too its lovely to snuggle with!

Failing that, grab a 10.5tog standard duvet and buy merino wool blankets (the old ones, can get them on ebay), toastie warm, i use mine on the sofa when we don't have the fire on :)

A cheap dunelm mill one. Same one I had in summer. And I'm laid here roasting lol. It's not thick but not thin xx

ThI have a goose down "Daniadown Summit" duvet. My only complaint is I got too heavy of a cover for it & as a result it is too warm a lot of the time.

We've just had a new one because we've upgraded to a kingsize bed,
From asda it's a 13.5 tog, smart price king size duvet and it cost us £9.90 odd, it's lovely and warm with out being too suffocating, we couldn't really have a heavy one because we co-sleep but for the price it's amazing value!
Not sure what the stuffing is tho, it's like material or fluff or what ever it is (can't think of the name for it) it's not feathers tho

We just sleep under a normal sheet. If it gets cold we add another blanket.

You can get a half and half one made at john lewis. Wtv tog you want on one side and wtv tog your wife would like on the other. Im planning to get one next yr.

We still have our summer duvet on with a quilt ontop of that. Our room is an ice box but it seems to do the trick. Will get the john lewis one i mentioned for next yr.

I dont know if you have B and M bargains where you live but i got one from there called 'feels like down' its the best thing ever! Its 10.5tog and was 19.99. It isnt too heavy but so snuggly!

I have to say I have just a bog standard Primark duvet and its the best thing I have ever brought- still keeps me toasty warm after four/five years of usage! I think it cost me less than £20 :D
