What was first AF like after laparoscopy/hysteroscopy

I had a laparoscopy and a hysteroscopy a little over two weeks ago and I just started AF. During the lap a paratubal cyst was removed and a polyp was removed during the hysteroscopy.

My cramps have been a little more painful, but my flow has been extremely light--so light that I wouldn't have even known it was AF if I hadn't been tracking my cycle. It has been barely more than spotting, and I've never spotted in my life.

Is this normal?

Oooh, good question! I just had mine, too, so I want to watch answers on this. :coffee:

Not sure about you, but they took multiple samples in the hysteroscopy, and I bled fairly heavily for a day or so right after, then had about 3 days more of spotting. It would make sense to me if AF was lighter.

Hope you get good answers!

Pbl_ge, I bled pretty heavily for two days after my procedure and spotted for another day or two. They took biopsies of the tissues they found too. I guess all of that can really thin out the lining.

I had been pretty bummed out because I actually TTC the same cycle of my lap/hysteroscopy since my op was before O. But now I'm realizing there was no use to doing that because my lining would have been too thin for implantation. I know of some women who got bfps on the same cycle as their lap and/or hysteroscopy, but I guess it just depends on what is actually done during the procedure whether the lining will be thick enough to allow that.

I suppose this is why some docs say you should wait until your first normal period after these types of procedures to TTC! Hopefully our linings will be nice, fresh and ready for an egg to implant in a cycle or two.

Mine was also super light for the first two periods, then normalized. My lining is excellent, not too thin, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Well I spoke too soon about AF being abnormally light. It was light for the first 1.5 days and now it's heavier than usual. My AFs are normally on the lighter side and last less than 3 days. I'm on my third day of bleeding and it's gotten progressively heavier. Last night I even bled off of the pad and it got on my clothes.

This is so weird. I hate not knowing what's going on in my body.

That's good to hear that it won't affect my lining. My lining was really good before the procedures, but after all of this bleeding I'm not sure anymore. I don't understand where all of this blood is coming from, especially since I bled heavily for two days after the procedure.
