What will scan achieve?

As I've already posted, I had mc at weekend at 4 weeks.
Even though we know this, doc still sending me for a scan at 6.
What is this for when we know I've mc'd?
I asked about ectopic but doc ruled that out.
My GP appt was approx 3 mins long, so as you can imagine I didn't get much info.
Very nice, very sympathetic, but very brief!

Most likely they just want to make sure your system is totally cleaned out. This is what they did for me anyway. If there are any remnants of the pregnancy they may want to do a DC...

Pearl is right but small amounts of tissue won't be seen in an US. I would insist on getting your hcg levels checked instead. If they go down to <5, then the MC is complete and the US is pointless.

Like the others said they have to make sure everything is gone. If not it can cause an infection. They should also be taking HCG measurements at the same time. That it was my OB did.
