Maggie has just started to walk and is in a pair of Clarks cruisers (£22!!!) but won't be long until she will be wanting to splash about in puddles

But

She's only size 3 and I don't want to put her in wellies yet as they are not recommended for 'new walkers' but will need to find something that is both waterproof and not too bulky.

Any ideas?

we just used wellies. she was only in them for very short lengths of time so I didn't mind her wearing them.

Trouble with wellies is she's only just built up the confidence to walk and they are so different to shoes they are bulky and heavy and need a different walking style to wear them if that makes sense. I want to find shoes or boots which are softer, more supporting around the ankle and give her flexibility but waterproof?

Also she is outside most of the time and will be in winter too whether it be for walks,on farm, walking round town etc so she will be wearing them a lot!

I have been looking for something for Ben for ages and I just don't know what to buy! He's only got little feet so it's proving tough. I'm thinking of getting some cheap wellies and seeing how he gets on with them.

Just shop around for some really cheap lightweight wellies.

To be honest when my 2 year old was in the snow last year we just used normal clarks shoes? not leather ones though. We just make sure he had a couple of pairs of socks on and it was fine.

The only time we used wellies was in the snow.

Oh and we bought like an all in one puddle/snow suit thing, that actually had the option of going over the feet too! So he could wear normal shoes in it and we'd just pop in in the wash after

yeah, LO has been in wellies since 10 months old when she was walking unaided. She's more wobbly in them but managed fine.
I know croc wellies are comparably shorter than other wellies.

How about somethng like this: https://www.waterproofworld.co.uk/kibajackets.htm?source=googleps#booties

my mum buys amelies winter boots and jacket. this year shes getting a pair of kickers lego boots. Theyre £50 though, eep. I'd just get wellies for the snow tbh  Amelie never had any issues wearing them and shes been in them since size 3.

Thank you for the link i think Maggie will need something a bit more hardwearing though. I guess lightweight wellIes and thick socks are better than heavy wellies. It's just her childminders is on a farm and they are outside all the time so she will be going on a lot of walks and uneven surfaces and will need to keep warm and dry. Maybe a snow boot style but cNt find any small sizes!

£50!!! Bet they don't do small sizes even if I wanted to buy them!

Wellies here, Bow loves them :)

Also some Clarks boots *fingers crossed they still fit her*

V xxx

Oh gosh i havn't even thought about this until now lol.Aliyah is size 4 1/2 already. Sounds like she has biggish feet lol

How about Stonz? They can wear them with bare feet or over shoes.

Oh my god they are soooo cute I might have to get a pair anyway!! Want some too!

Thank you for the link x

I'd try snow boots as they're often only hard where the shoe bit is and soft up the leg. Can't find an in size 3 with the quick look I've just done. I'll want size 4 for my LO, so will try to have a look tomorrow

Yes I think I will go for snow boots at least when were building snowmen in winter she will be warm and good grips!! Hehee will have a look too x

Molly will have shoes and wellies. We're a good few months off of the bad weather so by then she'll be a completely confident walker with bigger feet so it shouldn't be a problem.

SNow boots from Size 4 if anyone's interested:

my LO has been walking for 3 months now and wears 'walking 'shoes from clarks (which by the way go up to £30 per pair once they are ''walkers'' instead of ''cruisers''!!!! ) No snow yet here but for rain we have just used his normal shoes with 2 socks on and warm slippers when he got home. We have some wellies for winter though but im not too fussed what he has on. Theres always a fire at home to dry off afterwards!!

I but mine in a Dr Martin/CAT type boots. Got them in TKmax for about £20 she wore them to death.

She couldnt walk in wellies last winter without falling over all the time
