When I went in for my appt at 11wks my doc did an internal exam along with a pap, and she said she could feel hard stool, and I knew it was there cause I hadnt gone to the bathroom for a few days. I have been really constipated since about 7wks. I have taken metamucil, benefiber, and finally she had me on stool softeners and none of these things helped at all! Because Im so constipated she explained that its putting pressure on my uterus, and I feel that pressure and its not comfortable. Does anyone have anything that worked for them? Im desperate for anything to help!

Eat high fiber foods.
Pears, figs (dried), blueberries, apples (with the skin), strawberries, peaches (dried), oranges, apricots (dried), raisins, spagetti (whole wheat), bran flakes, oatmeal, ry e bread, whole wheat bread, mixed grain bread, cracked wheat bread, lentils, black beans, lima beans, canned baked beans, almonds, pisatchio nuts, peanuts, cashews, peas, cooked artichoke, brussel sprouts, boiled turnip greens, baked potato with skin, corn, air popped popcorn, tomato paste, and carrots.

This may help.

That is very helpful. I printed it out and Im going to keep it in my purse lol. I have been eating Artichoke more than I used to and it has helped a little. I guess I should be happy I have this and not the nausea!

I have the same problem and I know that my prenatal pills have a big something to do with it lol!

carrots, carrots, carrots. I can sit and munch on them all day long and they DEFINITELY get the bowels moving!

Kashi stuff...has crazy high fiber and they have granola bars, cereals, crackers...that taste GOOD!

I'm glad I could help. :)

I agree on eating the high fiber foods. And the stool softeners. Metamucil didn't work very well for me, and I was extremely uncomfortable. I was constipated and constantly sick, nausea and vomiting. Every time I would try to go to the bathroom I would end up vomiting. (Sorry if its TMI). But it got much better after the first trimester. Good luck!

Have you tried Mexican Food? I was consitpated as well, but I just had mexican for lunch. Not only did it work, but it was fast acting too!

I havent really tried Mexican food, I have had nachos one or two times from this place by my work but I didnt really notice a difference. My mom is going to buy me some fresh wheat or something like that. She said that you pop it kinda like popcorn and that it really gets things going. I have another doc appt on November 6th so Im going to talk to her about it. My sister in law just had her baby on Saturday and she said that they told her to take milk of magnesia because apparently you get constipated after having a baby... so Im going to try that too.

milk of magnesia will solve your problem very quickly.
i remember being consitpated from week 6-12. horrible.

Well...I'm not a member of the non-pooping club. The diarrhea has gone and the constipation now reigns over me. Ick
