Me and my partner planned to get married this October after 5 long years of being engaged. But fate had something else in store and the lil man in my tummy right now is due just 3 weeks before our wedding day.

So we decided to postpone it til the year after but last night I had a dream that we were getting married and woke up this morning feeling sad as it was a dream and not real  I don't think I can wait a year. Me and df discussed it and he still thought we were getting married this year :haha: but said that he would rather wait til Lewis is a bit older but I really really don't want to wait!

So what would you do would you leave it til next year or go for it this year?

If we have it this year it means we can't be extravagant but I don't care I just want to marry the love of my life and be his wife rather then his girlfriend/fiancee.

Anyone else doing a wedding on a budget have any tips for me? x

First of all congrats on your pregnacy!

Our wedding is in July and we have done ours on a very low budget....

Brand new wedding dress - £99.00 from Ebay my mums was £40

This is mine - https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sexy-Wedding...em&pt=UK_Wedding_Clothing&hash=item19bc988695

Flowers - These are being done by my OH's auntie
If you have something small and on budget then just get your bouquet and a button hole for your OH

Suits from debehams - £60 per hire this is shirt, pants, waist coat, cravat and hankicheif and jacket

Car - We are leaving from the same house....makes it cheaper and we are putting ribbon on our car and both driving down to the registry office

Cake is being made by a family friend - £80

Good Luck

:flower:

I got married nearly 2 years ago, but this is where we saved money.

* We got married on a friday afternoon. Registrars fees were a LOT cheaper.

* I bought my dress from a local prom dress shop. An ivory prom dress princess dress (I didn't want as train) it cost £325 and a friend of my mums did the alterations for £30. My veil was 'something borrowed'

* Flowers were fake. Foam flowers from https://www.sarahsflowers.co.uk/ . My bouquet, BM's bouquet, 7 buttonholes, and 2 corsages came to under £100. And, I get to keep my bouquet as a lovely reminder.

* Only had 1 bridesmaid and my godson was pageboy. The bridesmaids dress was from BHS. The pageboys suit was from eBay.

* A friend of hubby is a freelance photographer - he did our photos for a reduced price.

* My aunt made our wedding cake as our wedding present.

* Ask around local car enthusiasts clubs to see if you can get a nice car for a cheap price. Lots of car owners LOVE to show off their pride and joy, and if you offer a small fee they may be more than willing to take a couple of hours out of their day to drive you to your wedding.

If I think of anything else, I will let you know

Thanks ladies we have definately decided to go for it and have already thought of a few money saving ideas of my own lol.

Going to ask at our local uni if a photography student woul be willing to do the photos as work experience as they won't charge as much.

For cars we are just going to try and hire a fancy one (from a hire company rather then a wedding vompnay iykwim) and get a friend to chauffer us to and from the wedding.

Flowers we are getting from that website that binxy boo mentioned.

Cake we can do ourselves or get a friend to do it as shes very talented and much better then I am lol.

Getting my girls bridesmaid dresses off ebay ad my older bridesmaids from monsoon, jane norman or somewhere similar so they can be used again and get the moneys worth out of them.

Found our venue just need a cheap caterer to do a buffet for us as we are just having an evening reception.

My dress I will need to go to a bridal shop to get it as will need to make sure it fits after I have my little boy as I will have humongous boobs and a saggy tummy to fit in it lol. But am sure I can get a good deal somewhere.

Df is getting his and his best mans suit from primark and then buying cravats seperately.

And thats all I have thought of so far lol. x

I get married in 8 days... in total we've spent about £2,000 so reasonably cheap!

Here's where we saved money:

We have a friend that runs a social club in the local police station so we've got the bar area as our reception. So that's been free :)

Bridesmaids dress was brought from a local little shop and cost £15

my daughter's dress was brough from TK Maxx and cost £10

The most expensive things for us where the fees for the registrars which where near on £500 and my dress and alteration which totalled £450 (from a bridal shop and altered by their dressmaker).

We've got a buffet dinner rather than a sit down meal and it's being cateered for by M&S. So 100 people are at our reception and it's cost us about £400 for all the food and drink.

Our flowers are being done by a local college as they charge a pittance and it gives the students more experience.

My father drives a nice car nothing overly fancy but nice so we're using his car as the wedding car.

Hope

Thanks hun for the tips!!! Not long left for you now bet you can't wait!

My friend recently got married and sent me a list of everything she did for her wedding and the prices. So now have our cars sorted out as the ones she used were reasonably cheap.

Dresses we are getting off ebay I spent til 2am looking for some and have a selection so sent pics to my bridesmaids to find out which dresses they would feel most comfortable wearing.

Rings we are getting from Argos

Dfs workmate does photography so going to ask them if they are willing to do it.

My daughters flower girl dresses are being bought from a local shop that does gorgeous dresses at cheap prices.

Found a photo of a dress I like and hoping to find one similar in one of the bridal shops or get one to make one similar for me.

Its all systems go now lol. x

We had the same thing happen. We had planned a bigger wedding, but when I fell pregnant, we needed to use the money to build an extension to the house.

We have now managed to downscale and it is costing us less than £1500

Married at registry office, using our own car to get there. 10 guests only (close family) followed by a meal at the hotel we were originally going to be married in (the deposit we had already paid more than covers this, with the remaining money going behind the bar for drinks!)

Dress cost me £160 from BHS
My DD is bridesmaid - dress from TK Maxx _£39
OH Kilt hire - £75.
Wedding rings were bought before we downscaled so they were a total of £350
One of OH's best friends is an amateur photographer so he is doing the photos for free!!

Instead of having a reception, we decided to have a party a few weeks later for all our friends.
Cost of hall hire -£25
DJ is a close personal friend so is doing the disco free as our present :o)
Buffet costs around £500, but my mum is paying for that as part of our wedding present!!

Good luck and no matter what kind of wedding you have, the most important thing is that you are getting married, doesn't matter where or how as long as it happens!!

xxx

The same happened to us, we started planning our wedding and i felll PG so we put it foward a year to give us time to prepare, we didnt want to rush it and not get it just right

Thanks everyone well we've found a venue thats cheap enough and getting married in a registry office so its all booked now.

Everything else is coming together too and will definately be able to do everything within the budget we had set out. :happydance: x

 I know many couples who got married in Vegas and don't regret it
Glad you found an affordable location!

Im doing quite a bit myself.

Weve kept guests to a minimum 75 in total.

Getting married in a church £250.00

Hire of the room afterwards £125.00 from 4-12

Friend might be doing our disco

MIL is doing our cake and paying for our photographer

Were estimating our hogroast to be £4-£600

I am doing my own flowers

The bridesmaids are getting there own dresses and shoes

Im saving all my vouchers from online surveys etc for my shoes, accessories and gifts for people

Im looking on EBAY for decorations for tables there is loads very cheap as well
