I am looking for input on how different moms would handle to sleeping situation with my 9 month old son. I am desperate from some help and some SLEEP!

Conner was recently diagnosed with an allergy to milk protein and is now on a dairy free diet. I am going dairy free as well since he is still breastfed during the nights and weekends when I am with him and not at work. He is doing a lot better since we changed his diet and has now been about 5 weeks respiratory infection free which is a record for him. Our problem is that he doesn't sleep....ever! During the day while at the sitters he will take a couple 1/2 hour naps and then he takes about an hour nap in his carseat when OH picks him up. From that point he is awake until bedtime, which is when the real problem begins. It takes me 2-3 hours to get him to sleep. I was nursing him to sleep, but sometimes now that doesn't even work. I have tried some light controlled crying, but he just stands in his bed and cries until I feel like it is too much for him. Once he is finally asleep, I move him to his bed and then he wakes up every 45-90 minutes for the rest of the night and I have to nurse him back to sleep. Sometimes he will ONLY sleep if he is nursing. I work a full time job and I am desperate for some sleep, but I just don't know what to do next.

I am looking for some mommy opinions on how I should handle the situation. I am also wanting to wean him here soon, but that is a whole other mess :)

Thanks in Advance!!

Have you tried putting him in his cot and sitting with him. My eldest was like this and I know how exciting it is. I used to lay him in his cot and sing/read to him but slowly move towards the door. By the time I got to the door he either used to be asleep on very nearly there x

Could you post a full (approximate) schedule of his typical day?

His naps don't honestly sound too bad to me. It sounds like he's getting around two hours across three naps? That's on the low side, but not horrific.

How does he usually fall asleep at naptime and bedtime? What's the room environment like? Do you use white noise? Is it very dark, or does a fair bit of light get in the room? Do you co-sleep after a certain number of night wakings?

My daughter was awful to stay asleep until she was nearly two. She's dairy and soya intolerant so I was breastfeeding her. Up until the day I stopped feeding her and put her in hey own room she woke every 2 hours through the night. As soon as I stopped feeding her she slept through. .sods law
