I am new to these boards... Well, actually I've been here a long time, but new to posting. My DH and I have been ttc #1 since July 2010, we got our first BFP Feb 1st, 2011 but sadly, it ended in a miscarriage at 9w3d after we saw HB on u/s at only 80bpm.

We've been trying since then, and still no luck, so I had my first appt with an RE Sept 2 2011, they discovered I have Low progesterone and I was given progesterone suppositories from +OPK Day until AF shows, or to continue if I get a BFP....

Last week we discovered that DH SA showed that the quantity was good, but the quality is low. The doctor said that obviously, since we got pregnant once, its possible, but it will probably be a little difficult with out intervention because his normal sperm count was low.

I just wanted to know what you ladies thought would be the next step for us. I have to go for more testing next week, but I like knowing what may be ahead for us. I would like to jump right into IUI, but not sure if they will do that even though I am covered for it.... Also, if they do IUI how do they determine if they will do it with or with out meds? Anything you can share from your experience is appreciated. Thank you so much!!!

Didn't want to read and run. Sorry hun, I am not going to be of much help :(

DH and I have been TTC for almost 4 years, but I refuse to jump straight into manual assistance like Clomid and IVF. I want to conceive naturally. We will be trying that natural approach for a couple more years before we decide we need "help".

Has your hubby only had the 1 SA done? They say to have a SA done at least 3 different times to get a better idea of what his sperm is really like. That day you had it done could have just been an "off" day for the swimmers:shrug:

My DH's SA is not the best, but "adequate" enough to get me pregnant. We too succeeded shortly after my HSG was done, but didn't stick and got my AF. Personally, I don't think women should get involved with all the meds (like clomid) until they have tried for at least a couple years. Sometimes stress is the main factor to why.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help :(. Best of luck to you and your hubby!:hugs:

Thank you for your input! I agree its best to not stress and to do things naturally if possible.
I am also going to ask about when he should do another SA! I never knew that, and agree it could totally be an off day!
Thanks and best of luck to you too!

You are welcome! Hope the next SA test is better :) Just stay positive and stress free if at all possible. Some women say meditation is very helpful, and yoga. I like to just take walks but only if its cooler out. I think we will have a better time conceiving in the Fall/Winter because I am always more relaxed during that time of the year. :)

heheh yay! That will be something fun and relaxing to do together! Best of luck to you!!

Hi I'm in a similar position, I have low prog and Dh has a good sperm count but low quality which I know can make conception more tricky and take longer! My theory is try everyday at ov if u have quantity over quality!! He he

For us the doc recommended IUI so it sounds like you might be offered the same. With male factor this is common. If that doesn't work we will have ivf (doc recommended this straight away but with onlu 1funded I wasn't ready for this). I also agree stress plays a big part and you have to give the natural way a good go first. I'm taking agnus castus to help with prog levels at the mo, still hoping it could happen before IUI fingers crossed.

As for meds I have been told for IUI I'll have ovulation induction via tablets and injections (sorry can't remember what they are called) which will ensure I'm ovulating before , because they don't know if i am due to prog levels ( they were only at 2 in April but I'm hoping that has improved since. What are you prog levels?

Sorry this is a long waffle, just wanted to share my experience in the hope it might help
Xx

Oh and my hubby takes pre vitamins now which did improve his second SA so that's worth doing. But it sounds Like with prog supplements you will be ok, u got preg before you can do it again. Sorry for your loss, unfortunately m/c is common in low prog ladies
Xx

Didn't want to read and run..

Haven't gotten to the IUI part, since we're still holding out for the natural way. Personally, I believe we're going to skip it and go to IVF because we have an issue with both his quantity and quality. My DH is on Fertility Blend, abstaining hot baths/hot tubs, no smoking, reducing his caffeine intake, and keeping the laptop off his lap.

The internet suggested putting an ice pack on the jewels before your ovulation time..tried that a couple of times, but it didn't seem to make a difference. My the things we'll try when LTTC.

Good luck on your IUI!

Going Natural if possible is the best way. I know there are just times when it isn't possible though  I hope you are able to conceive naturally before doing IVF!! I only recently heard of the laptop being on the lap thing. Applies to women and men. I am assuming is has to do with the radiation? The radiation in a laptop is so minuscule, but any precaution is better than nothing I guess.

Oh I agree that natural is the best way..as I'm scared to go thru IVF. But I don't want to be LTTC to the point of where it's too late. You know? Plus there's no off button on your biological time clock!!! I'd also feel awful about myself if both my SILs were done with there families before I even started mine .

On a positive note, you seem to be adjusting well on here. Glad to see you like it!! :flower:

Dr recommended IUI for us! It's scheduled for tomorrow! Fingers crossed this is exactly what we needed!
