What's normal after a sweep?

Hi ladies
I'm 40 + 6 today and yesterday after visiting the l+d due to feeling unwell the doctor performed a stretch + sweep on me around 9pm. Once he done it he had a big lump of bloody like snot on his hand, and he said some cramping is normal.
Well last night I hardly slept, felt like I was having the worst period of my life. Lots of cramping in my lower abdomen and severe back ache. From when I arrived home I was still having lots of blood tinged mucus so I put a pad on and it's still coming out now along with the bad cramping.
I'm not sure if this is my plug or just irritation due to sweep? My belly has been rock hard for days but I do keep getting minor tightenings but they just feel like a little stronger than the cramps and dull ache that is persistently there already. Sort of feels like a little electrical shock :/
I'm unsure whether these are begginings of contractions or not as they dont seem to be coming round from my back and squeezing me as some women describe. I also feel like a pressure in my bottom occasionally with these.
Anyone got any advice one whether these are the begginings of them or just cramps/irritation due to sweep? Thanks ladies x

Hi hun. This sounds like its the start of things to be hun ive had sweeps wiv ds and dd and nothink happened. Id say it does sound like ur show although u will continue to have this until labour comes along so dont worry too much about it. Id get some walking down/bouncing on birthing ball and a nice bath make sure u have everythink ready. When i was induced labour felt like lower back pain, cramps in bottom of tummy and they start to come from back/bum into front. Good luck x

when I had my sweep with my first it was like that and I had him the following afternoon. It feels differant for everyone so I would get a nice bath and walk about abit and see what happens. xx

I had painful 'like' contractions after my sweep but they ended up wearing off. Hopefully yours carry on
Plug coming away is normal though xx
