whats normal for a 17 month olds speech?

My lo had one word until 19m, and one month later he had nearly a hundred. He probably is picking up around 10 words a week at the moment, but mainly only single words.

I really wouldn't worry until much closer to 2, things can change so quickly.

Mac will repeat near enough anything you say and talks in 2 word sentences ie "all gone" "done now" "more please" and seems to have a wide vocabulary.

However, my second son (who is 10) said virtually nothing until 2 1/2 and is as clever as anyone in his class if not the top in all subjects so i really wouldn't worry at all.

...easier said than done i know xxx

Jordyn's 17 months and i constantly worry about her speech its so annoying to me I annoy myself with it...

Jordyn will honestly go into another language I kid you not it sounds asian and she looks at you so seriously and talks with her hands and I can only make out 1 or 2 things in the whole 5 minute babble...I think she's trying sentences before actual word.

her fave things to say lately is " Oh no" when she's pissed off its always " Oh no" when she's frustrated " Oh no" .... Cookie is a new one for us! she says "tickle tickle" " Mama" " papa" " buppies" for bubble guppies i think she trys to say "puppies" but she says buppies a lot so its confusing! She says baby a lot she looks in a mirror and says baby...

She often trys to say something like this .. again I think because it sounds like babbles to me but it sounds like " its a baby" "its a bumpy" " its a cookie" I'm almost sure.. my mom and sister think too!

My friends son says so much and his turning 2 it often makes me feel really really bad or like she's behind even tho 17 months and 2 years old is prob a huge development difference in a toddler
