Right could someone please tell me what potted beef is please? :dohh: x

mashed up beef spread, but i hate to think which part of the cow is used.

Potted beef is like beef spread (as the others have said),abit like pate but cheaper.People tend to have it on bread or toast

I've always seen it called potted meat. It usually contains a mix of chicken, beef and pork and includes fatty tissue, hearts, tripe and skin. Not the most pleasing thing to think about but it's not bad tasting (if you get the right brand). We've always used it when camping or put it in our emergency kits. It's very handy if you're in an area that's been hit by a hurricane or tornado and are without power for 3 days as it doesn't need cooking or refrigeration.

It's also handy for long car trips. Spam is a form of potted meat... same process but it's chopped instead of creamed.

Yuk!

My hubby calls it "potted heid" (heid is scottish for head) xx

They also call it potted dog but I'm not sure if that's a localised thing. It's not that bad really!

 My OH loves it, and always says to get 'get me some potted dog' when I am going shopping.. I think its gross though

Well im not impressed! My childminders given this on 2 occasions now! x

WTF? She has fed this to your child????? Kx

Yeh hun...me being me didn't think much of it when she fed it him the first time but the 2nd time i thought i better look into it...dont know what to think really?! x

Can you start making a lunch up for your LO? I always make Niamh's lunch myself. She gets a sandwich on brown bread, a natural yogurt, cucumber and a piece of fruit.

I think i might have to...she used to always feed him really nutritious meals however since she has been pregnant with her 3rd child she is acting like she has got a illness and i have noticed how the meals she is now feeding him are becoming less nutritious!x

Thats terrible, for what you pay for a childminder too. I would defo start doing as raf has said and make your own hun. Kx

She sounds like she is being out of order feeding him that, most probably fed him it because it takes like 5 seconds to spread on a piece of bread,if she is slacking of late like you said.I doubt she would feed it to her children.Your son is only 16 months too (by your ticker?),i think there might be rather abit of salt in it too which isnt good.Should pull her up about it hun.x
