What's the difference between Comfort & Anti-Reflux?

We've currently moved LO to Aptamil Comfort from SMA (yellow top) due to her having sickness, awful wind and some green poo. The poo is back to a normal colour and consistency but we've found the sickness is worse. She's gone from bringing a little back to it being projectile. So I was wondering, would she be better on the AR milk? She started this last Thursday so it's possible it's just early days I guess.

I'm considering taking her back to the doctors but last time I was there about this they just told me reflux is really common and to keep her upright after a feed... :dohh:

I could be wrong here since we have different formulas in the US, but I'm pretty sure the comfort milk has the proteins broken down for easier digestion (my lo is on a "gentle" formula and I think it's the same concept). The anti-reflux formula is thickened with starch (basically powdered baby rice cereal) to make it stay down easier. If your lo is at the point of projectile vomiting then I'd personally try the anti-reflux. I have though seen a LOT of ladies on here say that their lo got constipated from it. You can actually mix the two formulas together, like half and half in each bottle to help prevent constipation but still have it be a bit thicker so it stays down better.

I agree with pp and that may help a little but I would personally go back to the docs and ask for gaviscon as yes reflux is common but it shouldn't just be ignored as it can be very serious ! X

Ok thanks for the advice guys, I'll ring and make another appointment.

We are using the AR formula as our lo was throwing the entire bottle up again. Just so you know, the aptamil one thickens in the bottle so you need fast flow single hole teats.

Comfort milk contains less lactose and partially digested protiens, to help with problems such as wind, lactose overload, colic and constipation. Anti-Reflux milk is just regular formula that contains a thickener (C&G and Aptamil versions both contain carobel) to help the milk stay in the stomach rather than be sicked back up again. xx
