Hi,
I think the ony difference is that the hycosy uses ultrasound whereas the hsg uses xray! I found that my hsg was ok on the one side and painful on the other, but the pain only lasted a few mins so don't worry about it!!
Good luck x
I had an HSG 18th Oct. I read after that some people were told to take a pain reliever before the procedure. I wasn't and mine was extremely painful, however lots of people say it wasn't bad at all. I wish i was prepared for it as i was told it would just be as a smear test. Well, mine was anything but.
This is not to scare you btw, its just that i had no clue it could be painful and it was a shock that it could be. Wish i'd read up on it before i went now, lol!
Would definitely recommend taking pain relief, and something quite hearty! I had nurofen and neednt have bothered, didnt do a thing! Also take some sanitary towels incase you bleed as theirs are like nappies!!
Good question Ebony - I have been wondering the same thing. From what I've read on here sounds like the amount of pain one feels could be related to if they had any blockages?.. You'll have to let us know what you end up getting booked for!
