I was asked at nursery familiarisation what I wanted/believed LO's next milestone to be - i.e., what did I want them to focus on to start with in her development.

(BTW - I posted before on my worries of her nursery, well I found somewhere else and she starts today - so pleased I looked, found a little gem of a place, really really happy and relieved. Glad I plucked up the nerve to tell the other place what I thought too...)

Anyway, at the time Darcy was just showing signs of reaching out and touching things, trying to grab things from her playgym etc... so that was my next "milestone" for her. She has literally overnight figured this out! So cute and she finds her toys a lot more interesting now.

So, I wondered - what's next? Sitting up maybe? She's just about 3 months old. What's the next few milestones we should be looking for at roughly which ages - I know every baby will be different. Where are your LO's in their progress?
xx

ive never really encouraged milestones that rhys hasnt started to develop himself. just helped him along when hes found one to catch on to! id say at 3 months just give lots of tummy time and different toys to play with eg musical and noisy toys xx

My next one is sitting up :)
Can she roll over? xxx

Glad you found a good nursery place - you must be relieved.

Not sure really about milestones as they all do things as their own pace. Sitting up could be three months yet! Rolling over is one that some do early and some very late. I guess getting them comfortable on their tummies is helpful and means they can play a bit more independantly.

Good luck!

Ah, rolling does seem more likely to be next than sitting up actually. She hasn't shown any signs yet. Not at all concerned with when, just wondered what the key milestones actually were. Thanks!

I'm not really bothered about milestones. Omar was always going the opposite way. He was bearing weight on his feet since he was born, & was obsessed about standing & walking more than holding things. Babies r difr hun. They reach milestones when they'r ready. Some babies roll over before sitting, some r not interested in rolling over or trying to crawl. xx

Daisy didn't sit up properly unaided until 6 months. Rolling came long before that x

They don't necessarily do things in the right order! Jenny has been able to sit unaided since about 4.5 months, but has only rolled a handful of times. She's creeping now and can stand holding the sofa - still no rolling!!!

Sorry to jump in on your thread but i am so glad you said this. My lo has been rolling about for AGES and just doesnt seem interested in sitting up (on his own - supported no problems) I was starting to worry!

As for milestone I think maybe rolling over would be a good one, but i dont think they should be forced. :flower:

ollie is funny with his milestones he hates doing those mini push up to the point i thought to myself hold on can he actually do them (he can it turns out just hates it) and he only rolls over by mistake just now but it good at sitting and turns round to his name (9 outta 10 times)

so like you seem to be going to do id just go with whatever LO shows interest in next

glad you found a decent nursery must be a big weight off your mind xx
